Need 35 rep...

I'm not a new member. Ive been a member for almost 8 years. I just upgraded my computer and went to post in the classifieds offering my old components in case someone could use them, but couldnt post because I need 35 rep. So, Im posting here. My heatware is in my sig, and its a perfect 18-0. So, how do I get 35 rep so that I can offer these items to people in the classifieds section?

Be helpful to other members and hope they rep you, that's how it works.

No offence, but you're basically a new member, 35 rep isn't hard to get if you're active on the forum for even a small amount of time.

35 rep is fine, you can get that together if you found something or just start helping in a section where you are good
For example help people with ram overclocking, help people with current gen overclocking
Help people with new builds, explaining how to optimise airflow

Overall something you are good at
I'd say it will take you 1 month of 10 days working to get it
soo around helping 50 people
Rep maybe early was easier to earn, but from my own perspective - this days it's not that easy
Still think you can get it together in 1-2 months (1 month if you give your best) and as said help 50 people with something that you are good at

The problem is, back in 2011 I was up to date on current technology. Nowadays I am not, so helping others will be difficult...

Your position kind of sucks but honestly what can we do. If we just rep trained every body in your position, some of them will just be scammers who don't care to abandon the account. I don't feel too worried when a user with 9000 posts and 300 rep sells me something for $100 because it's not very likely they would run away and abandon their account over a few bucks.

There are other forums out there that use heatware as your reputation instead however.

The sad thing is even if you do help people most wont rep the one they got help from either because they dont know how they forget or they just dont care
Its not all that often i make a thread asking for help but i always try and rep those that are being helpful

As for not being up to date that does not matter all that much if you still know alot about older stuff which can still be helpful to some

just start pandering/shilling what's trending in the news section and you'll be fine.

i'll piggy back on shilka's comment on helping people, sorta discouraging spending hours if not day(s) helping someone to hardly get a thanks. but ya know this isn't toms hardware; where people argue over best answer so they get a precious trophy (been there, done that, have the t-shirt). and most of all, for me, karma has a way of working out.

personally, i got a lot of mine helping folks how to understand bios modding their 980ti in the owners club.

edit: you really don't need to have the latest tech, a lot of problems just need some pretty basic troubleshooting steps to find and correct.

Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.
Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

^^^ Another good way is to just dive in the heated hardware debates and just post agreeable comments. People love repping people who agree with their world views

Being able to post en the marketplace is a privilege that you get for helping out the community and other users, doesn't matter if your account is 8 years or days old. If you don't have the required rep it means you haven't helped enough to earn that privilege. It's pretty simple, no need to create a post about it.
