100% disk usage

Been Having issues with my Girlfriends pc. First the first two sata ports appear to have died on the asrock board I put in. Then upon installing a new Kodak ssd and windows ten os, It immediately started running like garbage. Problem? 100% disk usage with nothing running. Been happening to many computers in my house as of late But I cant fix this one to save my life.

Things Ive tried so far:
Fix 1: Fixing the StorAHCI.sys Drivers to msi disabled
Fix 2: Changed Energy Options from Balanced to High Performance
Fix 3: Disabled Windows Search
Fix 4: Disabled SuperFetch Service/aka sysmain
Fix 5: Disabled Antivirus Software/aka windows defender
Fix 6: Reset Virtual Memory and reset to ram limits
Fix 7: Disk check (Was fine.. as I figured, Its brand new)
Fix 8: Removed All Windows Temporary Files

Im so stumped and this is so aggravating. Hopefully this is in the correct section and someone has some ideas.

Go into task manager and see what is accessing the disk.

Click the section I have circled and the programs accessing the disc will be listed at the top.

With windows it could be that the computers around the house are providing updated to one another.

Or you have a computer on the network with a virus.

In Windows "Resource Monitor", go the page about disk usage, then look for the process name that's doing the reading/writing. See what you can find online when searching for that name.

I bet it's Windows Update preparing something in the background. For me here that stops after waiting long enough (sometimes a really long time).

Im sure its windows as well, Im having issues with this as it seems windows defender was the biggest hog and after disabling it, the disk is still getting maxed out. Its a stupid known windows issue lol

Erm. What?
Windows OneDrive. It will try and backup your whole HDD's contents to the cloud, and everything you open.

Windows Update wont show being used either, depending on your OS build.

is it a new install?

if it's One Drive then you can uninstall One Drive and see if it goes away. At least on the Enterprise/Education builds you have to choose to install it or else it doesn't get installed. I'd imagine you'd have the same in Home and Pro.

Is the OS installed on a HDD or an SSD?

Its probably Windows Update.

Also, if you are running 1607, there was a huge issue, with SSD + HDD systems, where NOTHING was causing spontaneous 100% disk usage on the SSD, every 2-3 mins for 30 sec. Had to install an update to fix it. Should not be present on other versions, but who knows?

I had already disabled onedrive evidently.

Not positive, but I made sure all updates are in and something I did appears to have changted it to work on this last restart. Not sure what but hey I'll take it!
