Dolphin Forum Official Valid Benchmark Results (STOCK ONLY):
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AunYlOAfGABxdFQ0UzJyTFAxbzZhYWtGcGwySlRFa1E#gid=0

The Dolphin emulator is one of the most CPU-intensive pieces of software around, but in the past you needed to have a specific game in order to bench it. Not anymore; now there's a freely-available CPU benchmark for Dolphin based on POV-Ray, and it's only 5MB to download!

By default the benchmark requires 64bit Windows (Vista or newer), but you can get it running on other OSes if you manually replicate the settings as described in the first quoted post (though the results may not be counted as valid.)

Standard Benchmark (read quoted post for instructions): http://delroth.net/Dolphin-Benchmark.7z Quoted post (Click to show)

Steps to run the benchmark
  • Download and extract http://delroth.net/Dolphin-Benchmark.7z
  • Start Dolphin.exe from that directory and open "povray.elf" that is in the same directory
  • Do. Not. Change. Any. Settings.
  • Wait for about 10-20 minutes for the benchmark to finish (avoid using your computer too intensively during the benchmark to improve accuracy of the results)
  • Take a screenshot of the Dolphin output window.
  • Post results here!
For people on Linux, OS X, Android, etc. (Click to show)

Do not expect me to include your test results: since there is no premade package, the chance of a human error screwing up results is higher and increases the risk to the validity of this benchmark.

If you want to run the benchmark anyway (if you do, please report your results anyway):
  • Get Dolphin 4.0-652 (reference version for this test)
  • Download the .7z from above
  • Replace your Dolphin configuration .ini files with the ones contained in the .7z
  • Replace your Dolphin Wii/sd.raw with the one contained in the .7z
  • Run povray.elf

Here's a quick little modification I rigged up that makes running this benchmark much more streamlined without actually removing any functionality:

You're welcome to use it as you please without credit or anything. I mean, it's not like I did anything fancy at all... Just please do not link directly to said download, I don't plan on keeping it up forever. EDIT: well if the post after this one is anything to go by, I guess I will keep this link up forever; use it and link to it as you please.
List of changes (Click to show)
- Made all files other than "license.txt" hidden (not including sub-folders)
- Added the file "List of changes.txt" containing the info you're currently reading
- Added a note that says "[[[[ For valid results, DO NOT CHANGE SETTINGS"
- Added "Run benchmark.bat" [start dolphin.exe --exec=povray.elf]
- Added "View screenshots.bat" [start user\screenshots\00000000]
- Enabled "Render to Main Window" for quicker access to the screenshot button
- Resized program window to 960x720 for better benchmark text clarity
- Set the folder "\User\Config" and its file contents to "Read Only"

When posting, please include the following

- Screenshot of benchmark result
- CPU model
- CPU clockrate
- OS version

If you want your results to be considered officially valid for the results chart, you must run at stock settings. If you still want to post your overclocked results for bragging right, then go right ahead - I'm not the one in charge of the results chart anyway. tongue.gif

Note that from time to time I myself may quote and re-post some results from our OCN thread onto the Dolphin Forum, but "delroth" from the Dolphin Forums is aware of this thread, so I might not always have to. You're welcome to post your own results on the Dolphin forum if you'd like to make sure your results are added to the chart, just remember that they only accept stock settings.

Will only be considered results in the following format:
Code:
[b]CPU[/b]: Complete description of your CPU, including clock speed + turboboost speed
[b]OS[/b]: Your operating system version ("Windows XP", "Windows 7", "Windows 8", "Linux", "Mac OS X", ...)
[b]Time[/b]: Time displayed as "Total time" at the end of the benchmark.
[b]Screenshot[/b]: Link to the screenshot (uploaded to imgur)

Example

CPU: i7-4700MQ @ 2.4GHz (Turboboost: 3.4GHz)
OS: Linux
Time: 9 minutes, 33 seconds

i wish i could havbenched my i3-2120 but i dont want to remove my i7-3770k

screenshot bat didn't work for me, so manually screenshoted the things you'd probably need for record keeping

on Win7

edit: wow looking at the spreadsheet, they weren't kidding when they said Haswell did well in dolphin emulation. shaves off so much time

The "View screenshots.bat" only works if you actually took any screenshots. wink.gif

Since I'm the guy that put together the streamlined version, I'll change that. If no screenshots were taken then the updated version will just give you a folder with nothing in it.

Updated the download link for the streamlined edition; now the "View screenshots.bat" even works if you haven't taken any screenshots.

Nice, that means OC'd Kaveri is faster than OC'd Nehalem in Dolphin. thumb.gif

(though not per-GHz, which means Sandy still kills it, let alone Haswell)

Can you put a download mirror up. Mediafire keeps stopping at 285kb downloaded then gives network error.

SLI Voodoo 2 - > GeForce4 MX 420 -> GF 6600GT -> GF 6800GT -> GF 8800Ultra -> AMD 4870 -> AMD 4890 -> CF AMD 5820 -> CF AMD 6850 -> CF AMD 7970 -> SLI GF 680 -> SLI GF 780 -> CF AMD 290X -> GF 980ti -> SLI GF 980ti -> GF 1080ti -> SLI GF 1080ti -> <- RTX 2080ti (DOA/Refunded)

Lolwut. Uh, sure?

You could always just run the Standard benchmark in the meantime...
