Hey.

I've decided that over the next few days I'm going to run some benchmarks on my spare parts rig. I'll be running the benchmarks at both 1080p and 1440p. I'll stick to using game presets when available and only test games with a built in benchmark. For the tests I'll avoid settings that go over Vram usage or that I consider unreasonable for the level of hardware. For simplicity I'll consider 30+ fps as playable.

The test system listed below will be ran fully at stock settings.

FX6300
16gb 1866 ddr3
GTX 950

Games will be ran off of a 300gb 5400 rpm hdd. biggrin.gif

So, first game up...

Shadow Of Mordor

@1080

Low AVG: 97

Medium

(Forgot to take screen shot =) Min - 50, AVG - 71, Max - 98

High AVG: 60

@1440p

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Low AVG: 64

Medium AVG: 47

High AVG: 40

Based off of these benchmarks I'm going to set SoM to 1440p high settings and run with it. Fully playable at all settings benched.

Tomorrow will be benchmarking, Batman: Arkham Knight.

Batman: Arkham Knight

I ran my Batman: Arkham Knight bechmarks this morning. Due to Vram limitations I kept textures on low throughout the tests. I left gameworks off for all tests.

The game was playable at all tested settings. A huge limiting factor however is the hdd I have the game installed on. While doing a play test at 1440P High I hit load spots where my fps would tank to 16 quickly. I don't think the game would suffer from the same drops if ran off an ssd. Luckily my Gsync helped carry me through and the game was fully playable.

Next up GTA:V. biggrin.gif

GTA:V

Ok, this was an interesting one. Because of the way the benchmark works I was forced to use the averages of the results. For settings I simply left the game at the default settings and tested both 1080p and 1440p.

Settings used (For both 1080p & 1440p)

1080p

Min - 40
Max - 110
Avg - 66

1440p
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Min - 31
Max - 75
Avg - 45

The game played very well at the tested setting. I did not however find the game very attractive. If I were to use this rig as a main gamer for GTA:V, I'd have to tweak the settings tested for better visual results.

Next up, "The Division".

The Division

I finally got around to installing my hdd and benchmarking "The Division". Have to say that I am not very impressed with this benchmark. There is no low/high fps, and, running the benchmark multiple times at the same settings result in wildly different results. I'm also not sure how they come up with their avg fps. From watching it, it's almost like they're calling high avg...

Oh well, this is based off of the numbers it put out. I'd say assume a low of at least 30 in any of these results...

1080p
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Low AVG 72

Med AVG - 61

High AVG - 52

1440p
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Low AVG - 52

Med AVG - 40

High AVG - 24

After running the above tests I OC'ed my CPU to 42 and ran again at medium settings. The results showed no noticeable benefit. Least not outside of margin of error.

Once again, take these results with a grain of salt since I do not think they accurately represent the true fps experienced.

I tested GTA:V again at 1440p with the FX-6300 OC'ed to 42. Really surprised with the results.

Once again, I averaged the 5 passes.

Min - 29 (-2 fps)
Max - 87 (+12 fps)
AVG - 56 (+11 fps)

Really surprised to see such a massive average fps gain.

Gsync really seems to shine in this setup where the GPU is very much a limitation. Better then it paired with my 980 ti anyway.

What is the increase in percentage for your OCs?

I didn't test OC'ed.

I might give it a go later. Maybe load my 42 on the CPU. Haven't tested out OC'ing the GPU yet since I mainly use the system for a second screen, aka, surfing the web.

I'll look into doing some OC'ed benchmarks starting tomorrow.

Hey thanks for some good benches! 1440p on low-mid-end HW is interesting thing since it's often very doable, and good-looking stuff, even though every-last-bit-maxed-out reviews usually indicate the opposite. smile.gif
I'd have some 1440p GTA V results for my sig rig. Mind if I share?

The hardware does better at 1440p then you'd expect from reviews. One of the beautiful things about these tests are the GTX 950 did not surpass 63c while running them. You could not hear the GPU even when being highly stressed.

Yea, you can use the results in your sig.

After work today I'll run some of the benchmarks with an OC in place.

Really liked your benchmarks. I have a soft spot for budget builds, i even use one myself.
Benchmarks with OC sounds nice.

Happy you like the benchmarks. Figured that lower end hardware always catches a bum rap. From my personal experience it's much more capable then it's given credit for. Just wish more games had built in benchmarks.

I meant sharing my own 1440p benches done using my sig rig. But I'll put this thread in my sig tongue.gif
