Best utilities for stress testing in 2020

New threads related to unstable overclocks and defective hardware pop up on a regular occasion. It is often asked how to stress test some component. Below you'll find my top picks after weeks of testing - updated for 2020.

GPU
Unigine Heaven
FurMark / MSI Kombuster
*GPUs tend to clock down due to power and thermal limits when running FurMark*
*Lower resolutions put more stress on the VRMs*

Video RAM
Final Fantasy XV Benchmark
*Set to maximum quality and run in a loop*

Memory modules (configuration, timings and overclock)
MemTest64
HCI MemTest (one instance per thread)
*Best run from safe mode without a pagefile*
Linpack Xtreme

Memory modules (physical integrity)
MemTest86

Processor
Linpack Xtreme
Prime95 small FFTs

Integrated Memory Controller
Prime95 custom run of FFTs from 512K to 1024K with 90% of RAM
Linpack Xtreme

Northbridge, bus and PSU
Prime95 custom run of FFTs from 512K to 1024K with 80% of RAM + LuxMark or FurMark running in the background at 720p.

Used to run ngohq.com. Now just a professional troll.

cards down clock during Furmark because the driver detects it's running and it handcuffs the GPU so it doesn't kill itself, lol.

there's zero reason to use Furmark, it's called a power virus for a reason.

this list would've been out of date back when FF14.2 was new, though it is a decent benchmark for game stable testing.

furmark is so out of date that it nukes modern arch, so modern drivers PROTECT THE CARD FROM THE SOFTWARE BY DOWNCLOCKING.

furmark site really needs to get gobbled up by archiver already. its a relic of the past & recommending it to people that're having issues is just asinine.

Add me on Steam, same name

FurMark was improved over the years. It is now a great tool to stress test the core, cooling, power delivery and VRMs. Some versions come with an artifact scanner which is extremely useful. There are several 3D demos like PhysX, tessellation, VRAM burn and more.

GSAT isn't that great. TestMem5 is pretty neat but doesn't have proper website in English or documentation.

And yet gpu usage jumps from 80 to 97% during furmark, eh.

Windows based ram stress tests do not stress memory allocated by Windows.
