No. They stole IP without having to invest in the design. And their manufacturing quality sux. I will not buy from Thermalsnake out of principle today, tomorrow or even again. (I had one of their cases a while back...)

80% tariff? Do tell.

Sad to see CL shutter their doors but can't shed a tear over such a ridiculous claim.

Always wanted a CL case and will have the funds this year to have made that a reality. But now I will simply build my own if it comes to that. I can get Steel locally for a reasonable cost. My last purchase of a 20"x22" piece of 3/16" was less than $10. This was before the tariff escalation. China will cave in the not too distant future as the US imports x3 the goods China does from us. They cannot hope to win in that kind of tit for tat scenario. Eventually their bubble bursts. Especially with the EU coming round and in talks with us about better trade concessions for both the US and the EU. Without the UK£ in their corner they're on an island that's sinking.

I understand that regional supply and quality issues means that Al prices have increased by 80% which sounds drastic considering that tarriffs where lower by a factor of 3. But CL also reintroduced various cases recently which suggests that they were using prepayments as working capital for their continued operations, despite having negative net assets. I dunno... I would love to hear the full story of what happened and how this collapsed one day. Their products were so good, and customer support (by this I mean goodwill from people ordering their products) was so high that it is weird for the company to fail like this.
Please explain?

I posted a comment in on the CaseLabs forum on their official closure announcement. It is a loss indeed, nobody can deny the build quality and design, and that is ultimately what you were paying for. I cannot comment on the reasons for the closure as I reckon there are a few factors, one of them being the tariffs not helping. Either way it is a shame. Hopefully the group can sit back down and re-form and we will see them again and as I said in my last post, we would love it for them to make their home here with us.

Wish you guys all the best and your consumers the same.

If you read the actual statement they said prices had risen by 80% with the 25% tariff playing a significant role. That doesn't seem outlandish in the slightest - this is a provable effect of tariffs. The whole point is to disincentivise (relatively) inexpensive imports.

They must have been doing very, very poorly for a long while. You don't close your doors the day after a policy is implemented unless you were neck deep.

I can only chuckle at headlines in some sites. Tariffs may have killed Caselabs but it was half dead already.

Gosh, selling +$500 cases and saying you went under because of tariffs. I can't believe anyone buys that.

Very sad to hear. Niche markets like boutique cases have very loyal but small fan bases. Companies like that get hit hard by changes.

This just in - in totally unrelated news Thermaltake announces it has lost their R&D department.

The tariffs are 25% but because of the threat and now reality of the tariffs businesses have been stockpiling materials and prices have risen due to demand and shortages.
