[Wccftech] LG’s 2019 OLED TV [email protected] VVR HDMI 2.1

Quote:
That doesn’t mean LG is resting on its laurels. Ahead of the upcoming CES 2019, they have announced today the first specifications and features for the 2019 line of OLED TVs. There’s some very interesting news for gamers specifically. To begin with, the televisions will support up to 4K and 120 frames per second thanks to the HDMI 2.1 ports that come with enough bandwidth (48 Gbps)....More information on the OLED TVs, as well as other technological innovations, will be announced by LG during their CES 2019 press conference, scheduled to be live streamed on YouTube starting January 7th, 2019 at 8 AM Pacific Time.

2018 already had 120hz @4k but without hdmi 2.1 it was for internal apps only. Good to see they are going with the vrr standard instead of something silly like gsync.

Been waiting for this. Will pick up the 55" model next year.

What happens to those Nvidia screens? These will be priced similar to current OLED so much less than what Nvidia is going to offer. Only thing is we need HDMI 2.1 GPUs.

How long have you been using that OLED with what I'm assuming is no burn in problems from your desire to get another?

1 year so far. I just recently checked and 0 burn-in. Even if there were burn-in you can't really tell unless you open some static colour screen. I used IPS but hated the blacks, switched to VA and colours were very dull. OLED is best of both. Also, love HDR in this monitor.

This is what I do to keep in save as a PC monitor.

1) No Icons on the screen.
2) Automatically hide the taskbar.
3) Slideshow for Wallpaper that changes every 30 min and I keep ~ 10-15 pictures. I change these regularly.

4) Turn it off when I leave the room.
5) Make sure I do not forget video/youtube open because it will keep the screen/windows from going to sleep.

Thanks. This VA smears it's blacks in darker scenes and these seem to be popping up more these days with the HDR push. It also only does 8 bit+frc so I can't enable hdr in game, but it is from 2014. And OLED seems like the only viable replacement. Good to know taking care of it coincides with making it look good
