I think I understand what they did. They stuck a bigger VRM cooler up top and shifted everything from the the ram slots to CPU socket down about 2-3 centimeters and sacrificed a PCIe slot. That's probably also why they chose to move the start and restart button to the bottom because they didn't have space up top. This all came from the desire to beef up the VRM cooling.

EDIT: Also they removed the damn PCIe dip switches. ugh!

I prefer the power button location and PCI-E spacing of my Apex.

Hopefully the new Zenith will be more reliable, didn't hear much good about the old one. It didn't justify its $520 price point.

Yeah, and evga released their Z390 Dark for $500.

Gonna wait and see what Lisa Su says. I'm hoping it doesn't run in the family

$500 for a Z-board

Yeah it's looking more and more likely my next upgrade will be Zen2+ instead of Intel.

Yeah been buying the rampage since 2011 and 2019 it's dead this is a regression this isn't a HEDT board anymore with proper pcie spacing and # of slots it's like they took the z390 design and slapped a 2066 socket on it and called it a day.
Thats not mean it is bad in case R6E Omega...Best X299 board, one of the best overclockers world confirmed it.

I mean as if I'm going to run it on LN2 and only using A2 dimms? that's not practical at all lol . Water cooling yeah but I bought HEDT to use slots and capacity for ram and you just get a fake 16 phase now loose a pcie slot and tiny small insanely loud fans under the shroud and cheaper design for the motherboard? And costs $100 more? Lol.

IF they kept the same layout as the R6 Extreme the button placements in the top corner (proper place) , got rid of the tiny jet engine fans included a Waterblock like the Formula <- lol $750 board no built in waterblock yet a 1/2 priced board gets it.. Made a better looking design and put a real 16 phase VRM then I'd say yeah it's worth it.

This board should have

1. Real 16 Phase VRM
2. Ditch the cheap fans for the vrm cooler for a custom built waterblock (Z390 Formula style)
3. Nicer design than the old R6 E(this is a step backwards)
4. Keep the slots
5. Keep the old button placement

Then charge $750 I'd buy it otherwise this is just a cheap cop out.
