[TH]Save Zero Dollars By Opting for Intel's iGPU-Crippled CPUs

Intel is selling chips without graphics at the same price as chips WITH graphics. So tell me, is anyone surprised?

Quote:
You would expect processors that come with disabled features to cost less than more-capable models, but according to Intel's latest price list, that standard reasoning doesn't apply to its new iGPU-disabled F-series processors.

We previously weren't aware of the pricing on these new models, but Intel's new official price list reveals that the company has set their RCP (Recommended Customer Pricing) the same as their iGPU-equipped counterparts.

I figured they were selling these at a lower price in order to saturate further a would-buy market, but I guess the reasons for these products are completely different from what I had imagined.

I was kind of hopeful. Oh, well...

I would still pay the same for the iGPU removed because it would give me peace of mind knowing there isn't another component that I have to turn off via BIOS, can mess up, take away thermally from my overall overclock. I wish they would do this with their main line of CPU's.

Man you guys, we should all be thankful Intel isn't charging us extra for a "premium feature" and is nice enough to keep the price the same. Talk about entitlement... /s

Can't wait to see the extra thermal headroom gained by removing something that's disabled anyway.
Using a GPU disables the iGPU so there's no need to turn it off again. If I had the guess, you'll be able to push an extra 0Mhz with the improved thermals.

iGPU is great when you're between cards or when your brick one.

They did this with Sandy bridge with the 2550k. And everyone thought it would help headroom. Didn't do much.

Exactly. Only reason to buy the F versions is if they offer something better, but it appears we pay the same for less.

F-series... seriously...
Someone at Intel marketing is either really on the pulse of modern culture and has amazing job security, or is about to get fired.
