You might not have defended either of them, but I have seen people do it and not just on OCN. I've seen people defend that literal bomb, the Note 7 while mocking the iPhone 6 because it bends a little bit if you sit on it.

Considering there are barely a handful of people complaining, and the article talks about what they found when opening, not that it actually happened to them, could also mean that they tested it, it worked out fine 99.9% of the time, and only maybe a few hundreds out of the millions sold, will ever actually have that problem.

I have a 2010 17" MBP, still works like a charm, battery even still has a few hours of life when fully charged.
I doubled the memory and replaced the spinning rust with an SSD, does everything it has to.
Also this 2010 laptop has a 1920x1200 resolution which i loved back then.

They already are. More and more each year. iPhone sales have been dropping steadily for the past couple years. This year they are dropping much more.

Why are people trying to derail the hate train with their logic and facts?!

Seriously though, the few apple products I've owned where great and lasted way more then the so called planned obsolescence. It's logical that some people might have gotten bad units from the factory.

Though I do agree that many of their products are overpriced and their right to repair policies are bile inducing.

Well what do you expect from fanboys?

I use Intel and nVidia, have Samdung SSDs and a Samdung phone (yes SamDUNG), and I bash them all the time. Intel and nVidia mostly because of their business practices, Samdung mainly for how terribly they handled the 840 Evo performance degradation issue + exploding Note 7, and for generally trying to be an Apple wannabe.

How many people are having this problem so far? The article said 2000 had signed thus far, so even if Apple has only sold 2 million MacBook Pros in 2016/2017 (I think they actually sell ~3-4m per quarter) then that's 0.001% of the laptops they've sold have developed this issue. Obviously, not everyone that has had this issue has signed the petition, but tis' a small number thus far. If we look at the actual number of units sold during 2016/17, and even take into account 2018... then that percentage is going to get even smaller.

Maybe... Or maybe they want a laptop running OS X? Either way, if they're happy with their purchase then good for them. If it doesn't do the job, they probably won't buy one again.

Yet this also applies to most tech companies as well to varying degrees. For some reason there're people out there that only think it's important when it's Apple doing it.

Specifically regarding cost... Apple product do generally carry a premium, however it's not as much as you imply in an Apples to Apples comparison. They do gouge the hell out of you for the "upgrades" though... I'm pretty sure you'll be paying more than 2x to upgrade from 8GB of RAM to 16GB.
