Anyway, one 2000w PSU is enough (and desirable, to run closer to max. efficiency) if you want to have a fully featured system on traditional custom water cooling. I fully expect people who will actually be going forward with putting together a system like this for status to go all in, I mean, if you already lost your mind, at least lose it properly.

- That means putting both the CPU and GPUs under custom water, probably with separate radiators and powerful fans;
- Use a generous amount of high-speed DDR4, anything less than 4000 Mhz is pedestrian at this level. So, at least 48 GB of RAM on the six channel interface;
- Overclock the CPU to at least 4.3 Ghz on all 28 cores, preferably 4.5 Ghz; more seems like it needs a water chiller.
- Use two Titan RTX's overclocked to 2 Ghz+ on water (~330w power consumption each);
- Use 4 TB SSDs in RAID, possibly also some Optane;

Come on if you're going to lose your mind properly, least you could do is throw in a water chiller. "Ordinary" custom water is for peasants. And 4000 MHz DDR4?! Possibly some Optane?! Lowly Titan RTX's? Have YOU lost your mind? Only DDR4 acceptable is the 4600 MHz CL18 kit, Optane is a must, and anything less than Quadro RTX 8000 renders you a peasant.

Fair enough. I couldn't let go of some cheapskatiness - the thought of a 1 horsepower water chiller running for hours on end, using more power than three rigs combined at full draw of regular members of this forum.

Btw, can you overclock the Quadro cards? The RTX 8000 comes with lower clocks compared to the Quadro RTX 6000 and the Titan RTX to accommodate all that VRAM in the same TDP.

Hehe, if you build this thing into any rig with a budget of less than $15k then you are doing it wrong!

Will be interesting to see what happens when Zen 2 TR's come out with 48+ Cores for less than half of what this thing costs!!

The advantage of this for me over 2990WX would be to gain multithreaded performance over my 7980XE without losing lightly threaded performance. The price is, as crazy as it sounds, reasonable considering you get 56% more cores for 50% more money. Motherboard not so much. But obviously there are a lot of disadvantages such as overall cost and pigeon poop. It does not beat 2990WX in all tasks that actually use 100% of the cores. With TR3 coming out hopefully in August, that will probably make up the lightly threaded performance difference on the AMD side.

This is a cool idea, and I love its low price. I just don't know how the chip could be cooled though. I can keep FX at 1.7 Vcore below 0c max core temp very easy 24/7 with nothing fancy, 500w is not exactly difficult to cool. This chip however... Wow, I really don't think a single stage would be enough, I think you'd honestly have to move to cascade (even including the internationally banned Freon gases, I don't think anything less than a 3 HP compressor would cut it, and even then you might hit above 0c). Its really cool board as well, as I love the behemoth VRM, and I have nothing against duel PSU (my main system is TR with 4x Fury, so obviously I run 2x SuperNova 1300s since they are dirt cheap).

Cool concept, but too difficult for normal people to actually run well since they don't have extreme coolers, and (joking, I think this thing would start blowing liquid nitrogen out of the cup if you really cranked it). You really would go through a ton of LN2 per week (I do mean literally over 2000 pounds, probably around 100 hour mark, or 4 days full operation assuming it burns 10L/hour of LN2). That would be absolute madness to try to do... Also extremely expensive. You'd definitely just want triple stage at that point, your cooler after a couple weeks would pay for itself!

I don't care about the electric bill, but my goodness, I don't have access to that much LN2 or no someone that can make a monster cascade for $5k (or even more, I flat out don't know any custom builders). Power is never a big concern for me, but heat density is, that thing would be like cooling a small sun.
Spread it out with 4 GPUs, and that's fine, but on 1 chip? Ludicrous! (hence I love it)

4x R9 Fury on water driving 3x 4k monitors
TR 1950x at 4.15 Ghz (120mm AIO)
32 GB in quad channel at 3600 Mhz
2x SuperNova 1300
10x MagLev, 5x duel stage Sunon 40mm (1.23 amp "super speed" server fans), Deltas inbound, modified 100+w 120mm
sub-zero: phase cooler at -58c idle and -25c at 500w load, T-Rex K1NGP1N LN2 cooler
