Meh for majority of builds I do its nothing great. I Can not reccomend it for any gamers builds I do.

Its a hair behind a 2080, with poor or next to none overclocking head room. Nevermind a 2080 ability to soar above 2000mhz and then it really widens the gap.

Its an odd card with some professional usage but for gamers there best to just look the other way and keep on with nvidia sadly 😞

After looking at the reviews, the RTX 2080 is the faster, cheaper, quieter, efficient and more feature rich choice.

1080Ti still a mighty card. Too bad VII wasn't much faster. Oh well

I have a big bang house. I had all the materials for my new house brought in and dumped on a vacant lot. I took a stick of dynamite, lit the fuse on fire and tossed it into the pile of materials. BOOM went the explosion and when the dust settled I had a new house! Amazing isn't it?

Exactly as expected. Glad they are in very limited supply. Time to move on AMD. Vega isn't doing you any favors. Give us Navi and better show your A - Game with Arcturus.

IMO the Problem with this card is not performance, it is price.

At the same cost as a 2080, the 2080 on avg is a better performer and has more features.

Though I think RTX and DLSS, and all the new assistant cores nvidia added (rtx/ai/etc), are mostly useless for most people and are just not ready for the main stream. Nothing wrong with having them, but we all know that the next generation with those cores will be the first real usable versions.

Kinda like when Pixal Shader 3 came around. The GTX6000 series had it, but by the time games came out that actually used the tech. The Cards were underpowered.

The VII in the long run, with future driver updates, will no doubt be equal to a 2080. But at the same price point and the fact is uses more power (which is something I never worried about in the first place). The card just isn't a killer deal. If it wasn't for the high cost of HBM this card would have been a big success for AMD.

HBM has done nothing more than hurt AMD IMO. AMD should have stuck to 512bit memory bus and GDDR. The cost of HBM just isn't where it needs to be.

Bad driver at release, why I'm not surprised? lol

Anyway, it is already decent at this stage, with a real driver it will be better and without absurd bugs

We will be able to judge the undervolt/oc capabilities and have a better picture of the card, for other people wanting a alternative to a 2080 for half the price as always "amd failed", oh well!

Turing have more (useless) features, yes I agree

So you wanted a 400W card instead of a 300?

For the green team (for having a 50W hungrier card in a 5Kwh house) you can at least remove 0,1v and have the same power consumption of a 2080 at the same performance level (yes, you can do it even on a nvidia card)

Underwhelming indeed. Vega 7 is looking more and more like a marketing stop gap AMD thought up to be able to have some level of gaming presence amid the RTX cards. I already noticed the lack of confidence in the product with the way AMD execs and reps talked about the V7 in interviews so I guess this outcome was to expected.

Hope Navi fares better.

They promised a RTX competitor at 300w and they delivered. AMD has been honest ever since Lisa Su became CEO. It's only underwhelming to those that expected it to be magically competing against the GTX 2080 Ti.

AMD already announced they have a RTX 2080 competitor.
First of all, I wasn't specifically referring to anything, didnt even mention Vega 64, let alone be talking about Vega 64 vs 1080/Ti, but since you bring it up...
Vega 64 was never meant to compete against the 1080 Ti and it doesn't. It was targeting the 1080, however with driver tweaks and AIB cards, it pulled ahead of the 1080 in some tests but still fell short in others. Theres a plethora of information on the internet to back this up or are you going to deny this?...

Secondly, driver optimisation has helped AMD in every previous generation in memory and I bet that it will happen again this time around.

Third, BF5 is not an AMD Exclusive or even AMD sponsored. Nvidia's logo is on that one.
In DX12, BF5 runs better on the Vega VII than a 2080 and trades blows with 2080 Ti, on a buggy driver. I'm not expecting it to smash the 2080 let alone 2080 Ti, but I am expecting it to get better than it currently is, across most if not all titles.

I see the "marketing magic" with 2080 and 2080ti still works and people are mistaking one for another.

Also I have to nitpick one thing on Linus review... He claimed that VII does not have features similar to Raytracing or DLSS, but something is on the way. Raytracing is already present on GCN cards for years, and i admit its not for gamers, but he got that factually wrong.. DLSS is for now maybe present on Nvidias, but utilized? Not really.
