It is mostly in the article but
  • TT has either rejected or ignored Mayhems' claim at this time
  • TT has continued rollout of their product
  • Several well known watercooling retailers have weighed in and decided not to carry the TT fluid until resolved
  • General sentiment amongst consumers that TT copies designs coupled with a poor watercooling reputation

Thermalfake at it again.

Everything they make reeks of cheap, shoddiness, and blatant plagiarism. Why anybody would buy their junk is beyond me.

Because a lawsuit against them is worth its weight in gold in terms of PR.
People will talk about them (well we already talk about them now because if it), and it gives awareness of their products with zero expenses on actually marketing.

I mean, did you know they were going to make fluids like those?
No one knew, but now we all know.

That's true. I suppose it works both ways, as there's nothing in it, seemingly, for Mayhems to go public with a matter like this and only ask for £100, regardless of who the recipient is.

I know that TT's reasoning isn't from taking a moral high ground and fighting the good fight against stupid patents and the stupid companies that file them, but I will support them in their battle as if it were their reason.

I like some of their products, I hate others.
But personally I think their business is shady as hell, and I would love to see them getting their asses handed to them at least once to shake them up.

Misc. info relevant to the topic at hand follows:

Source: ThermalTake Corporate Site >> Core Value >> Honesty & Integrity

Quote:
We require that our colleagues be candid and honest, pay attention to social justice, adhere to our organization's stipulations and social norms, keep their commitments, and "walk the talk." They should accept different points of view, keep others' secrets, treat others with sincerity, and handle matters with fairness and consistency to win others' trust.

Note: while the above quoted text may be applicable to internal relations amongst and between Thermal Take employees, the following is also of interest (from the same web page; bolded emphasis is mine):

Quote:
Global Thinking

Success will come after conditions are ripe ! Face a fast changing world and market, we must have an open mind toward different cultures and values. We keep calm in the face of a fast-changing world and try to find out why the changes are taking place in order to adjust our practices accordingly and maintain the work performance expected of us. Moreover, we must examine industry changes worldwide, market trends, and developments among our competitors, in order to predict future market trends and scout out business opportunities.

Note: Trademarks are territorial and must be filed in each country where protection is sought.
Source: STOPfakes.gov >> Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Basics >> Does a U.S. Trademark Registration Protect a Trademark in a Foreign Country?

Note: “TT Premium“ is a ThermalTake brand that was first registered in the US early 2016 . For a somewhat simplified discussion of the differences between of Registered ®, Trademark [TM], and Service Mark [SM], see: Should I include trademark symbols in my logo?

Some additional resources, perhaps of interest to some:

United States Patent and Trademark Office >> Trademarks >> Trademark Electronic Search System (TESS)

ThermalTake Identity Specifications (branding, PDF document)

World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) >> Directory of Intellectual Property Offices

Note: Taiwan is not a member of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), but adheres to key international agreements such as the Berne Convention and the Agreement on Trade-related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). See World Trade Organization (WTO) >> Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights for more info.

Also see the following at the WTO web site:

Intellectual Property >> Enforcement of intellectual property rights

Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights >> Disputes >> Disputes citing the TRIPS Agreement

Dispute Settlement: the Disputes >> Disputes by agreement
Note: applies to nation signatories to the TRIPS Agreement (not individuals).
