I would actually buy this if it physically did not have an iGPU on it and cost a few bucks less, since I never use the integrated. But no point if they cost the same and perform identically.

Hi,
Only bummer about no onboard graphic's is if a gpu goes kaput and rma can take a while.
The way prices are on gpu's a spare gpu is turning out to be a lot of money sitting around for an average Joe.

I kind of laughed at some of the x299 refresh boards mostly at prices but looking at the connections 1-2 display ports was sort of intrigued in gpu failure case and now having onboard graphic's to fall back on
But ultimately prices were silly high

ITT: Everyone thinks they are smarter than Intel and states how "AMD will cream them" in some way in the future.

I do enjoy OCN news threads about AMD/Intel for this reason

It's the internet and they can't. They just want the big guy to fall as they can't see 2 seconds into the future to know what they wish for is even worse. Best to just put the trolls on ignore.

This is factually incorrect.

The 9900KF has other things disabled too. A quick glance at the ARK pages of both the i9-9900K and i9-9900KF models would have let them report on it correctly:

Intel® vPro™ Platform Eligibility: K: yes, KF: no

Intel® Stable Image Platform Program (SIPP): K: yes, KF: no

Intel® Trusted Execution Technology: K: yes, KF: no

Interestingly, a few weeks ago when the KF model was put in the ARK database, TSX was also mentioned as being disabled, but now it's mentioned as enabled. Was it an error at first or is the now enabled status a result of market segmentation second thoughts?

Now, do those differences change a gamer and / or overclocker's minds about it? Most probably not and ironically, stuff like vPro being disabled may actually make the CPU more secure (even though ME isn't completely disabled as SGX extensions work with it), and Intel knows it and that's why they charge the same, exactly the same reasoning with the disabled iGPU, but still, this should be reported accurately because, depending on the deployment environment, these two CPU's may not be interchangeable aside from the iGPU, as the article suggests.

As a side note, I don't recall them having a 130w thermal solution recommendation up there a few weeks ago, for either CPU. When will they update the CPU's TDP to something more realistic than 95w?
I mean it's Tom's, they're basically The Sun of the tech press, really can't expect too much.

I think it was a hyperbolic statement, not that he actually hopes Intel dies and AMD becomes another Intel. The fact of the matter is, companies like Intel and Nvidia who have so massively taken their market share and consumers for granted when making bone-headed decisions like this absolutely SHOULD reap the whirlwind so to speak, and AMD is really the ONLY company that is even capable of keeping them in check.

But to be clear, if Zen 2 and Navi were to somehow turn the tables on Intel and Nvidia so completely that AMD themselves became the new Intel/Nvidia, I'd call them out on it too and start rooting for Intel/Nvidia against them...

I do not want AMD to kill or destroy Intel, I just want to see someone else take a performance crown for a little while. That way prices would drop all around. I hope the same thing for AMD GFX division as well.
