From a different point of view what better way for Intel to silence their opposition than to buy them out and convert them.
When it comes to GPUs, he was always trying to find ways to mitigate nvidia's performance, like using apples vs oranges comparisons, making AMD appear as "good enough" in order to downplay nvidia performance.

When he couldn't do it with AMD vs intel, he up-played creators usage of AMD CPUs over intel's, making the bottom line that AMD are better for gaming, based on creators performance.

He was bought by intel, not because he was intel shill, but because if they can convert him to one, it silence a large part of the pro AMD media. "See, he hated us, but now he loves us, so we must be doing something right".

He was also welcome it I recon. His latest reviews or posts seems filled with boredom and anger, and if you weren't eye to eye with him, he basically erased users and all their posts from the forums.
So this gives him a way out.

Oh well..
I'm glad I learned from Hardforum. OCN has always been light entertainment, a bit immature at times as you can see from the comments.
These days, I'm into photography etc. Haven't upgraded my PC in almost 2 years. I think the hardcore users are getting older and the younger crowd is embracing streaming services, and forums aren't their thing.

I think the old review sites are getting the hint their time is up.

Too bad. Hardforum has some of the best threads on boards like the EVGA SR-2 (not that it is relevant anymore).

I think I read like 200 pages of posts sifting details for that board lol

I think you hit the nail on the head. No one goes on forums in the new gen... It's all youtube/snap/whatever. In general IT crowd has shrunk too it seems... Even less people know what a CPU...

Ah, good. I didn't really get the differentiation between the two :-)

I re-read the article twice because initially I thought the same thing.

You guys are right 😕... I wonder how many of us forum folks are at least 30 years old now. I have trouble with YouTube and other services because I can't remember who is who. It seems so disorganized to me.

Different takes, different interests. To me, OCN is much more on the hardcore enthusiast end of the spectrum. Take something like the DDR4 overclocking thread in the Intel CPU forum, there are pages and pages of extremely technical discussion. Same thing for most of the enthusiast grade CPU series as they come online. HardOCP seems more like "What RAM to Buy" and "What CPU to Buy" type posts. Not that there's anything wrong with that, and OCN really turned me off after the latest switch (not a fan), but here I am.
