here, after seeing a few asking VA v IPS vs TN, and having to look for myself, this may help with some basic understanding:

For the most part, a VA panel is a panel that has:
Better colors than TN, worse than IPS.
Worse viewing angles than IPS, but better than TN.
Best native contrast ratio (~3000:1 [some get higher] vs ~1000:1 for IPS vs <1000:1 for TN); subject to 'black crush' (near black [super dark grey] becomes indistinguishable from black and looks awkward/out of place).
Worse response time compared to TN and IPS (get some trailing/ghosting/smearing).

I personally think they are the best panel-types (other than OLED), but that is mostly because contrast is the most important aspect of a display to me; black crush and smearing does not really bother me as much as IPS glow/TN color shift/both of their mediocre 'blacks'.

I also agree, never had any issues with any of the Acers I have had and would love to get this if it gets announced with HDMI 2.1 (needing 2xDP would make this pretty 'meh' to me).
