[TH]AMD 50th Anniversary Ryzen 7 2700X Leaked

Well, this seems weird. I'm surprised they didnt go with 2800X branding.

AMD's 50th Anniversary is fast approaching on May 1, and several new postings at online retailers have revealed that AMD is on the cusp of releasing a new 50th Anniversary Ryzen 7 2700X to celebrate.

Not sure why AMD wouldn't go Ryzen 3000 series instead??

Why would they release another 2000 series chip when 3000 is coming in a few months? It better be gold platted TWKR if they are using an old 2700x.

A limited number, early release 3000 anniversary edition would be highly sought after.
That sounds way better.

Why not call it Ryzen 64? It would be a nice throwback to the glory days when AMD kicked Intel's butt so hard they had to resort to bribery to get anyone to buy their garbage.

Zen 2 isn't ready for a May 1st release, simple as that. AMD wants to do something for their 50th anniversary and Zen+ is all they have that they can release on that date. I think a limited run of highly binned 2700X's with slightly improved clock speeds along with all the other ancillary "commemorative" fluff would make for a nice (and easily doable) celebration product.

IMO, 4.0Ghz Base/4.5Ghz Boost 145W TDP could be nice for this price, if it could maintain 4.2Ghz all core Boost and run around 4.3Ghz~4.5Ghz in games that will close the gap from the "Best Gaming CPU" 9900K that cost's Double.
Edit: Just saw 50th Anniversary RX 590- so maybe AMD just gonna change the limited number of their current products to emphasize the "50 Anniversary"?
IMO the Real Limited edition CPU will be the new 7nm 16C Part that will make a joke from 9900K.

That sounds way better.
Looks to be bought as a display model aka e-peen than pc usage. Why else buy it? Techpowerup speculates possible special laser engraving, which would be show'd off, right? Ppl love to display their tech, more so if its in limited production.

A gold or platinum plated IHS would be neat.
