I'm sitting on a 1060 6gb right now. So an upgrade is easy (but I downgraded from a 1080ti because I have been bored of gaming)

My current plan is to grab something for COD:MW, which looks pretty sweet (IMO).

You have to take huge leaps when you are so far behind, but a huge leap doesn't mean much unless you leap past your competition. If the consoles were launching this holiday season the leap would be a nice one (assuming the hype is somewhat correct). I'm not so sure the performance will seem quite as grand once we have another generation of pc hardware in our hands.

I was on my 1070, then tried 2080ti, was disgusted by lack of progress thus stepped down to used 1080tis.

based on history, the GPU response won't come until after the new consoles roll out. The most recent example of this is of course PS4 n Keplar Titan release. Which is still one of the biggest gpu perf. jumps of all time. I'm hoping to see something similar this time around as well, specially now that both consoles have come out swinging with HDMI 2.1 4K120hz VRR support. (do not read as games running @ 4K120FPs... only ancient titles, and releases years from now will achieve that)

Yes indeed those were good times. I remember getting a 670 at launch those things were beasts. Would love to see a jump like that. I don't know if maybe we are getting to the limits of silicon that that sort of jump is no longer feasible? Surely if AMD could hit a home run like that against Nvidia they would (and would charge for it)

AMD has a much longer game to play in this market than NV. NV is focused on servers, while AMD is focused on their consoles. Nothing truly innovative is coming in the GPU space until after said consoles. No, it probably won't be as hardcore as 680>>GK110 Titan/780, but I'm hoping its close.

yep, quite curious to see how AMD responds to AMD Sony, and AMD Microsoft... Since they already know whats in the consoles, they know best what to serve next in the GPU space. I would assume NV is privy to this information as well.

at the least, you can guarantee all post console GPUs to be 4k120Hz supporting cards. (HDMI 2.1 and whatever DP standard that is)

Has that addon card in place of an extra SSD nonsense been put to bed yet? Seems like that would be the only hope for a $500 console to run anything well in 4K....

The Super version of the 2080 Ti looks not to be a refresh, but a brand new chip.
