This will bring PC gaming gear down in prices.
There are exactly zero posts before yours saying any of that....

A couple throwing shade at 8k which they absolutely should be.

and this is why I keep telling PC gamers to wait on hardware until what's released in response to consoles.

both companies are REALLY digging their heals in about 4K high frame rate gaming, this means NV & Co. will have to come to bat again, like back when keplar came out.

I completely believe it'll have 4K120hz SUPPORT, but games actually making use of it? no.

The console will likely do 1440p 60, or 1080p 120hz best, with some titles eaking out 4K... At least, for the first few years.

oh the FOMO Butthurt in this thread. Do you feel it in your pants? It reads like y'all do.

I mean, $600 box doing things that $1500 GPUs can't currently do? That means NV & AMD have been holding back on us MASSIVELY, or that it's too good to be true... @Least at the $500-600 option. Maybe that addin card rumor stuff from back in the day will come to fruition. Slap on some sorta hardware accelerator card into the second SSD slot to unlock the stated performance people expect outta hardware that'll "SUPPORT 4K120" that just means it has HDMI 2.1

R.I.P. Zawarudo, may you OC angels' wings in heaven.
If something appears too good to be true, it probably is.

It's just unlikely any devs would choose to design their games that way. If you can aim for 4K 120hz with lower graphics or 4k 60hz with the best graphics you can get out of the system, devs are gonna do the latter. Hell, they might even keep aiming for 30hz a lot of the time.

120hz capability for consoles is not going to mean 120hz game in 4k. Not even a 2080 Ti can do 120hz 4K in newer games.
I do think there might be 120 fps games eventually, probably some ps4-xb1 level graphics games but it's probably more about current xbox one's 120hz/vrr mode where games can feel smoother even 30-60 fps based.

4x xbox one x is pretty vague. CPU performance would probably be more than 4x from jaguar to zen.

Maybe they'll start including a "toggle" in some games, particularly 1st and 3rd party MS games, whereby players can choose between graphical quality and 120 Hz; or, maybe, some games will simply be tuned for speed rather than pretty.

this, you won't see high FPS 4K content unless its an old title, or 3-4 years post release.

It's great it has 4K120hz support, either way. WHY?! Because it forces AMD & NV to start putting them on their GPUs.

you'll see 1080p120fps, and 1440p 60FPS @ 4K 30-60 (mostly 30) @ release. You just won't notice as much, if your TV does VRR.

You can absolutely build a 700$ PC today that can game at 4k medium and 1080p ultra @ 120hz. The next generation of consoles are going to be no different than all the previous generations; roughly equivalent to a mid to high end PC at the time.

that's a pretty broad statement... Based on my own experience with the full range of hardware right now, I really don't agree. 1080p 120hz is easy, and yes 100% can be done for under $1K.

actual native 4K anything, not so much. Even on 1080ti(or two of em!), you're better off @ 1440p ultra than 4K anything... if you care at all about how its running at least. I suppose if you wanna gimp around @ 30FPS 4K, sure... I however don't like mud.

this is of course in reference to anything AAA released in the last few years.

step down from that, and yes decent 4K gaming becomes reasonable @ the sub $1K level (on just the stuff inside a tower)

They ain't seen nothing yet. Wait until MS decides to simply use powershell to port games to Win10.
Hint: you might want to look into Navi/Ryzen 3000, lol.

I dunno about that. Maybe "medium" for consoles, assuming what they usually run is the "ultra" for consoles.

I don't have the absolute best gaming setup, but it's pretty good and in modern AAA games (last 2 years) I have to run some settings at medium to maintain 60fps. I imagine that most buyers of the next playstation and xbox are expecting better looking games that will be even more demanding than what we have now.

Personally I don't think 4k is worth any sacrifice in frame rate, it just not that big of a visual improvement compared to the performance loss. IMOP 1440p with all the bells and whistles looks much better than 4k with no bells and only a few whistles.

What's the VRR range on these new TVs? Hopefully it's 20-120hz so that it can be functional for consoles, if it's like 4k monitors (45-60) then it probably won't be of much use.
