I don't have the absolute best gaming setup, but it's pretty good and in modern AAA games (last 2 years) I have to run some settings at medium to maintain 60fps. I imagine that most buyers of the next playstation and xbox are expecting better looking games that will be even more demanding than what we have now.
Personally I don't think 4k is worth any sacrifice in frame rate, it just not that big of a visual improvement compared to the performance loss. IMOP 1440p with all the bells and whistles looks much better than 4k with no bells and only a few whistles.
What's the VRR range on these new TVs? Hopefully it's 20-120hz so that it can be functional for consoles, if it's like 4k monitors (45-60) then it probably won't be of much use.
100% agree... 99% of the time, with my 1080ti I go ultra 1440p over whatever 4K can do. Visual fidelity is almost always better, and performance is of course ALWAYS better. 1080ti just doesn't have the memory bandwidth to handle 4K in some titles.
