A lot of players played Battlefield at low res low settings with very high end hardware to have the lowest possible latency. The lower the res the better it will be as a CPU benchmark.

Big advantage Intel has right now in gaming is memory performance/latency.

Completely depends. I'm at 3200x1800p all ultra and rarely dip below 70fps on 64p maps on a 60hz monitor. Someone with a 2080 let alone 2080ti really would have no problem with 120+ hz at 1440p.

Oh please. Low res low settings was a stupid excuse for a bad server host and bad players. At least during BF3 days.

Not at that unplayable res. At this point you might just use synthetic benchmark since this is nothing but a bragging number.

Not at all, I am talking about input latency. We did the same thing with Counter Strike, Quake, Unreal Tournament, anything thing competitive will be played with low res and low settings in order to get the lowest input latency. Hardware has gotten good enough that players don't need to resort to super low resolutions in order to get the frame rate up like they used to, but it had nothing to do with servers because it was done the same way when we were playing over LAN.

A synthetic benckmark won't show you what the frame rate limitations are for a particular game though.

I doubt it, a 9900K at 5Ghz on all 8 cores with 1.3v uses 220w at max with Prime95 AVX. Around 170w during non AVX Prime95.

My 9900K at 5.4Ghz w/ 1.5v uses 255w with Prime95 AVX.

Yep...I do this, to this day. Latency > graphics, graphics do not matter if you're playing competitively...The only that matters is winning, which lower latency helps you do.

We did that long ago. Real long ago. And UT had horrible input handling in the first place so no way you'd fix that by running low. Not running games on potato helps a lot regardless of time we're in.

I don't know what input latency we're talking about since I'm talking about times when BF3 popular. Back then, only input latency I can remember was from using zowie mice. Switching to logitech fixed that real quick.
