Good card. I wonder if there is a way around the apparent power limit like a shunt mod? Could oc pretty well if so.

That XT cooler is the ugliest I can remember. Can anyone else remember an uglier one? Looks like when I taped some fireworks to my GI Joe stuff when I was a kid.

Edit: I would try to get something other than a blower on an XT anyways.

The Sapphire Nitro 5700XT should be able to hit peak boost with no problem.

AMD Radeon hit a home run with this card. They've decoupled frame rates from input lag. That's a pretty big deal not just for esports but for anyone playing BF1/BFV, BO4, Apex, and most other online MP FPS games. You can keep the card cool running it at Low framerate compensation levels and still get peek low input lag as if you are running framerates 1:1 with high refresh rate monitor. Still dominating as if you got all IQ settings on low at 1080p just to reach monitor's refresh rate. LOL, this going get gud!

Sad part, not many will understand what this really means. FPS is no longer the king, long live the KING (Radeon Anti-Lag).

Radeon anti-lag also works on GCN cards (see slide below), so we'll have to see what the software trickery really does behind the scenes. Also, it doesn't support DX 12 nor Vulkan, so these APIs may already have those optimizations built-in, being closer to the metal.

Hardware Unboxed has one slide where it's noted (see below, video in the spoiler also), but I still didn't find the endnotes slide that provides more information.

Spoiler!

Overall, as I said in the other thread, this is a disappointing launch. It seems like they are betting too much on piggybacking on the enthusiasm for Zen 2.

They say that Navi is here to stay for a long time, but it clearly needs a lot of work in subsequent iterations (7nm EUV will also help).

At 7nm they still have a power hog architecture vs the competition that is still on 12nm and it doesn't even feature ray tracing cores nor denoiser cores. Their 7nm card has a 10w higher TDP compared to the 12nm RTX 2080, while performing worse.

Also, according to GN, the RX 5700 non XT has one fewer phase, so expectations of reaching the same clocks as the XT version may be hampered. AIB versions will probably feature better stuff, but the price at that point may be too close to the XT version. I'm just not feeling anything even remotely close to the Zen 2 enthusiasm for the amounts that they want for these cards.

It does look like a power hog. Like the more juice you can put into it, while keeping it cool, the faster it will go. At least this is what the high boost clock relative to what appears to be the throttled game clock indicates to me.

So was the 290x.

That Fidelity FX looks a lot like the reverse of what I have to do to get a smooth 60 at 4k in AC Odyssey. I have to downscale
That's how the normal images look compared to those Fidelity FX'd ones, they look downscaled.

It is a shame Navi isn't top tier, but I'm glad they have finally broke away from the 2013 high end to current midrange pack.

I am not really impressed . Particularly with navi .
Maybe in the US with a strong dollar the prices are tolerable , but in Australia the prices they will come in at , makes not worthwhile .
As for Zen 2 , my 8700k will do ok for a while ,my board takes a 9900k so might see if someone selling a used 9900k and upgrade to that . My 2700X linux box can stay as is .
Zen 2 is priced too high to entice me to buy , not by a lot , but it doesn't have to be .

you all sound so pucking depressing its sickening, i'm disappointed this i'm disappointed that, some of you don't have any intention to purchase anything from amd, other than you need your opinion heard to sway other from not supporting the company. Most of you all will happily sell a kidney to buy nvidia or intel product, but as soon as amd try thing its omg so disappointed, if you ask me you cause this price gouge on yourselves. amd will have money this fall, ps #I'm not disappointed.

I think the problem with most people is that they want competitive AMD products so they can force Intel and Nvidia to drop the price so they can buy blue and green.

With all the security problems and performance degrading patches that have come out for Intel CPU's, I doubt that that is the case among the informed people when it comes to CPU's.

GPU's is another matter. Navi is still not the improvement that AMD needed and the prices don't help.
