???

1800X - March 2, 2017
1950X - August 31, 2017 (+ ~6 months)

2700X - April 19, 2018
2990WX - August 13, 2018 (+ ~4 months)
2950X - August 31, 2018 (+ ~4.5 months)
2920X - October 18, 2018 (+ ~6 months)

3900X - July 7, 2019
3950X - September ??, 2019 (+ ~2 months)
????X - Q1 2020 (+ ~6 months)

Seems legit to me. "Delay" implies that it ever had a release date; it did not. Nothing is yet confirmed besides Lisa saying that it is still a thing.

Analysts are predicting AMD could hit as high as 10% server market share by 2020. Do you have any idea how many CPUs that is? In two years, Epyc has managed to claw AMD up to about 3% (pre-Ryzen they were sub 1%). In 6-12 months, they are predicting that AMD will up-to triple that. Again. They need every CPU die they can get to pass validation into servers so they can make some real money, and I do not blame them at all.

I am waiting for a nice 16 core TR3 though. Obviously I would like it sooner rather than later, but I am not looking forward to what the next TR motherboards will cost given what X570 is like and it isn't like my 1950x is suddenly too slow. If TR3 is out by next tax return season I will be happy.

Honestly, I was hoping for fall. As it would be give or take the same time frame of the past 2 launches. I also had my hopes on not buying more tr boards. As of right now I have the Meg and the aorus xtreme both of which apparently if x570 is any indication impossible of doing pcie 4 officially. I had a 2990wx that I sold off as I wasn't really using it anticipating a couple months before its 3rd gen replacement would come but now that seems to be a much longer time. Hard to plan builds that require distros when you need to change the board later on just for pcie 4. I rather not postpone my build plans for 6 months plus.

So this is still only comparable to Haswell right? /Sarcasm

Looks like a great bang for the buck even at $749. Should be able to handle everything you throw at it with one hand behind the back.

But we're still going to see people claiming it's on par with an i5-4400.

I'm keen for the 3900X + disabling HT. Currently on the 4-core i5 6600K. I think a move to 12 cores will be a huge upgrade. The 16 core would be nice but for the extra cost I don't think it's worth it for me.

**** are you nuts? As soon as 2 GB models of these are out and Zen 2 Threadrippers launch, I'm going RAID0 and filling my system up with these suckers. "Just because".

Why would you disable HT?

No 64 cores for you?

I won't be doing anything in particular that will utilize 24 threads, I think 12 cores will be plenty. Turning off HT should reduce heat/power. I also don't want my games / programs using hyper-threaded cores when a full core is available and I don't really know if that can happen or not.

I have some workloads that will utilize all of the threads, but it's only once every couple of months. Beyond that, I'm with you. Turn off SMT and see how far we can push those 12 cores.

I'm really excited!!!
