[verge] Apple will repair 2018 MacBook Airs with faulty logic board for free

One recall at a time, Apple.

A “very small number” of Apple’s 2018 MacBook Air computers suffer from an issue with their logic boards, and the company will replace the components for free, according to documents seen by 9to5Mac.The site reveals that certain 13-inch Retina screen 2018 MacBook Air models have an issue with their logic boards. The documentation reportedly only says that the issue relates to power, and 9to5Mac found that some users have complained about their devices not turning on.

Pro & Ipad fires, backlight, SSD recalls, and now Air etc.

Since Apple doesn’t really share specifics on how many units have been plagued with each of these problems, it’s hard to know how widespread the problems are

Sir Jony, guy responsible for two technical revolutions is now only a consultant.

Stock nearly dipped to 2015 levels until the shake up & China move. Sales have supposedly dipped 30% year over the year & Apple is still making roughly $60 billion a quarter in revenue- but the pressures of Wall Street necessitate more growth.

I would bet that the Apple bubble is due to burst sometime in the next decade. Unless they hit another serious stride on innovation, they're just going to be riding on the highly inflated public perception they have enjoyed for a long time now, but that perception is not being maintained by Apple very effectively anymore. There will be a breaking point, public mindshare about Apple is already shifting from; "Apple makes great products" to "Apple makes expensive products" and over time that will shift further to "Apple makes over priced products". A lot of people ditch iPhone for android eventually because of the price difference and very few switch back. Once people ditch Apple they are happy with the alternatives. Eventually Apple wont have enough loyalists to keep the big picture together. Once public perception starts to shift noticeably, it will be a snowball effect and their stock will drop fast. That is, unless they pull a rabit out of their hat which seems pretty unlikely at this point.

Can't wait for Louis Rossman's video on this one......

I calculated the odds of this succeeding versus the odds I was doing something incredibly stupid... and I went ahead anyway.

If it's not coming out for the PC, it's dead to me.

I've had two Macbook Pros, a 2007 and a 2011, with manufacturing problems requiring a motherboard swap, repaired several years after the one year warranty expired, in a couple of days, for free.

Not sure what your problem was but clearly Apple stands by their warranty, even going beyond it at times.
