I swear to god if X-Plane doesn't implement Vulkan by Christmas I'm just going to wait EVEN MORE on cpu's and continue crunching data in Pixinsight and gaming 1080P just fine with this FX-6300 and RX580

Been waiting on this Ryzen forever and it's in 3rd gen. At this rate it'll be obsolete.

How does X-Plane using Vulkan have anything to do with choosing to upgrade an FX-6300 to Ryzen 2?

I'm not totally sure but I think the workload will be shifted. Intel is still best for max framerates but all that changes with Vulkan. The performance increase in Doom was crazy.

By Built-in Benchmark Queen:
My 2.5 years old delidded 7980xe @ 4600mhz all core with 49ns memorylatency (4000c16 twekaed) is faster than 3950x max overclocked on water in every scenario. Pretty good for a ancient cpu
In gaming it has no chance vs my new 10900k @ 5400mhz and 4600c16 tweaked memory. ~35ns memorylatency.

okay so does anyone think or is there any rumors about the lower end zen 2 threadripper parts being overlapping with ryzen 3000 parts in core count? I mean will there be a 12 core zen 2 threadripper cpu? or will they jump to 20 cores or something as the lowest cpu? I'd be very interested if there's going to be 12 core zen 2 threadripper.

AMD is starting to make some dubious mistakes. The Wraith Spire that is being shipped with the Ryzen 5 3600X is not the same Wraith Spire that shipped with the Zen and Zen+ models. They took out the copper in the middle and replaced the Cooler Master fan with a Foxconn fan that spins at ~750rpm higher and is thus louder:

They should have been forthcoming with this; giving the same name to a cooler with different characteristics is not cool.

Is this a cost cutting measure or are these chips cool enough not to need the copper core? The fan is a ****ty change, that is undeniable.

Dubious marketing material everywhere. BAPCo SYSmark has a rich and dubious history to put it nicely. Their office is located inside Intel's HQ. Nvidia, AMD, and VIA quit BAPCO bechmark.

Quote:
that BAPCo, the benchmarking outfit that all hardware review sites rely on, is working closer with Intel than is seemly.

In fact, 'incestuous' might be the word we're looking for here.

A search for BAPCo returns the following address:

Business Applications Performance Corporation (BAPCo) (BAPCO-DOM)

2200 Mission College Blvd MS
SC12-608 (Sc12 = building number, 608 = maildrop)
Santa Clara, CA 95052

Whilst a search for Chipzilla tells us they're to be found at:

Intel Corporation (INTEL-DOM)
2200 Mission College Blvd,
P.O. Box 58119
Santa Clara, CA 95052-8119
