As for me I hope we get something about a Pro/S model soon. If not I might finally crack and pick up normal one this holiday.

lol I thought I was the only one doing this! Been waiting for a pro/refresh version of the switch for a while, I even have a handful of games for it. If no news comes out about a new version this year, I'll just get an OG one this december.
Why do I have a feeling they are selling a Jetson Nano for $200?

Was hoping for a 'pro' version of the Switch with upscaled resolution and better battery life instead. I'll be keeping my original in the meantime.

The regular Switch doesn't have a dpad like the lite version.

The 3DS cost $250 when it launched, then was cut to $170 after a minute, then the 3DS XL came out and was set at $199 like this new console is... soooo... I don't see the issue?
Exactly. And I just got done paying off a loan to tom nook so I need to save all the bells I can for a home upgrade. $200 is the sweet spot.

1.) HD Rumble
2.) Detachable Joycons (This means you need to buy an additional set of full-fledged Switch Joycons if you want to play games that require motion controls)
3.) Docking Support (This means no external displays)
4.) Multi-tablet game support
5.) Kickstand (So even if you DO buy extra joycons you can't stand it up without a third-party case)
6.) Probably some other things I missed.

And you are only saving $100 by giving up all of that? I think it would have been a real player at $159 or even $179, but it just doesn't seem worth it to me.

Edit: Here's to hoping that since the rumors of a "Switch Lite" were true that the rumors of a "Switch Pro" with more CPU / GPU power will come true.
Same. I'm not seeing where this fits in the market at all. It's hardly like the Switch is getting old either. I don't buy this "Next Gen DS console" crap. Even for a Switch Pro i think the same. All these releases just seem highly unecessary to me.

I had to look up what that was, you think so?

Ugh looks like we're gonna pick up the OG one unless you and I are willing to wait till end of next year.
Think its gonna get the next generation Tegra X SOC (X2?), but Nintendo pretty much said no to another Switch this year. Probably doesn't want to overshadow/cannibalize the Lite sales and try to pull current switch owners to buy it also.

I'd pay $199 for a Nintendo sanctioned Switch emulator for PC.

Not interested in a huge "mobile" console that I'd only ever use at home anyway.

As a big handheld fan I probably would have opted for this model if it was released alongside the original, but it's not small enough to bother "upgrading" to. Also, shame about those bezels. It was my biggest complaint with the original Switch and I kind of hoped they'd eliminate them to retain screen size while shrinking the overall form factor.

Neat refresh though. Nintendo handhelds have been more consistently popular than their home consoles and I'm willing to bet there's a decent size market for people who don't care about playing on a TV and don't want to pay a $100 premium for the feature. Especially in Japan where handhelds reign supreme.
