<8% faster than the 2080, same price. <16% faster than the 2070S, 18% slower than 2080Ti; <26% Faster than AMD Radeon RX 5700XT.[Guru3D Shadow of Tomb Raider 4k] Memory is not only clocked higher, but is actually better than RTX 2080.
"You don't need to OC in your review, the viewer should just add 3-8%; basic math. Also who cares about rerunning benchmarks on the same driver... Let's just show OCed cards vs Non-OCed cards to rant about how slow a card is..."

This seems to be the most pointless in the lineup. There's not enough of a performance improvement from the 2070 Super to justify the $200 jump. Those in pursuit of performance will still be buying the 2080 Ti, and the value conscious crowd will either pick up the 2070 Super or 5700 XT depending on their gaming needs, so where does that leave the 2080 Super? At $599 I can see this at least being a logical progression from 2070 Super, but $699 eh no Leatherman can stick it up his ass.

The value proposition is horrible. The 2080S gets sandbagged in order to keep the Ti relevant. As you state, there is a clear $/perf window here, but Nvidia is betting AMD has no answer in the highend range, so they will hold the status quo. If AMD has an answer, I hope its soon...for my sake. :p

any idea when the 3000 series or whatever will be released? want to get a 2070 super for cyberpunk but that's still 8-9 months out. I don't usually upgrade my gpu every gen
at the same time I could probably get ~$200 for my 1070 if I sell it so i'm not sure

I expect sometime next year, at Q1 at the earliest. Nvidia are moving to samsung 7nm, and I expect they will wait until AMD actually has a response to their top card in the form of "big navi".
Right now tuning is good enough for them to hold the market until next year.

AMD are also not currently fully threatening nvidia in the enterprise market as well with their 7nm instinct or vega II cards, so nvidia are in no rush right now.
If you want fully RTX running though, I would still wait for next year. With 7nm they might have enough room in the die to put more tensor cores to make it running without big drop.

If amd would have a valid response "you" could not afford it exactly like the 2080ti, why should amd cut their profits? When the price bar has been raised and market went that route too, the other competitors have to follow it.... anything else is wishful thinking.

#17 ·
There is no wishful thinking. Navi lowered the current mid tier card pricing.

mid super cards from nvidia are 50$ MORE

the only save can be done on old cards non super

regarding navi, we are the usual 50$ below (because custom aibs will end up costing 50$ more than ref amd and super cards are custom from my pov, not reference) so, if big navi will be better than 2080ti it will be 50$ cheaper on 1200$, but let's say 100$ cheaper!!! Still unoffordable for the vast majority of enthusiasts ........ or you think that they will put at 699$ just because?

There won't be any technological revolution that will cut the cost of gpus by half in the future......simply, top tier gpus will be affordable by top tier wallets, no scam at all....I won't be jealous..... but that's it..... I hope to be wrong though

The only fair comparison here is reference. We are not going by pov, but launch prices:

  • 5700, $350 vs 2060S, $400
  • 5700XT, $400 vs 2070S, $500

Performance is not identical, but $/performance, Navi wins.

2 and half years after the 1080ti.

10-15% faster with 27% less vram and near the same price.

Can't tell if we are crawling forward or maybe tripping backwards.

Anyone sitting on a 1070 or better from the 10 series really has minimal reason to upgrade at this point. Hell even a good overclocked 980ti is still not much reason to budge yet.

This is still blowing my mind that people are not grasping what the super line is and what its for. This is not supposed to be some new shiny upgrade for 2080 or 2080ti guys. Its not a money grab. They have retired the 2080 in an effort to get rid of the rest of the silicon that originally didnt fit into their GPU tiers. This is not the first time they have done this. What do you guys think the 1070ti was? It was a 1080 that didnt pass QC but was too powerful to be a 1070. There is hundreds of millions of dollars of silicon yields and not all of it is perfect. They are simply gathering together what they can to make a few more lines, and retiring the lines that would be irrelevant. You are not expected to sell your 2080 for pennies on the dollar to get a 2080s. But lets say you are a 980 guy or a 1060 6g guy that wants a big upgrade but cant afford the 2080Ti. This is an awesome GPU for you. Its not meant to be this NEXT GEN WOW launch. They are simply retiring the lower tier gpus, and bringing out better ones at the same prices???1?!?! Thats amazing. I bought a 2080 a week ago as an interim solution until my 2080 S gets here....FOR THE SAME PRICE. I returned my 2080 yesterday and the super should be here today. Win-win. To the reviewers who are complaining at only 6% gains and whatnot, you are not reviewing them correctly. They are not for comparison to their nonsuper counterparts because you shouldnt be stupid enough to sell a 2080 wholesale for a 2080s. I didnt lose a penny because I was able to return my 2080, but had I not been able to then its no question I would have held on to it until the next gen.

What a strange chart... 2080 ti only 6% faster then the 2080 super... 5700 below the 2060 super... I hope people actually click on some of those links.

Even though it's a modest bump, better then nothing? MSRP price with higher performance. It must be nice not having any competition at that price point. What would be competitive. 1660 ti $240 2060 $300 2060 Super $350 2070 Super $440. What would be Super 1660 ti 200$ 2060 250$ 2060 Super $300 2070 Super 350$, 2080S 500$, 2080 ti 700$.

But both AMD and Nvida still haven't gone back to premining prices despite the fact bitcoin has dropped long ago.

Really though people who own a Radeon vii, you can still sell it used for 650$+ and grab a 2080 Super if all you do is game. Or wait and hope it holds onto it's mining resell value.

I would suggest to anyone who doesn't need an upgrade at GPU at the moment to hold off until next fall.

The stars definitely seem to be aligning for a big win for consumers in the price/performance and pure performance jump from Nvidia. Moving to 7nm process, big Navi encroaching on them a bit and Intel getting into the GPU market all point to an impressive new GPU at a reasonable price point at that point in time.

As someone who actually was waiting for an upgrade from the 980Ti, the only reasonable option last year was to just abandon PC gaming. There is no freaking way Nvidias 2018 product stack was worth buying into.

But instead of being reasonable out of desperation and spite I bought Vega 64, and some residual resentment is probably why there’s a $1200 Samsung TV on my wall right now as well (Xbox One X games in 4KHDR look fantastic, also most UHD Blurays get a discount every few months).
As long as you enjoy the DX12/Vulkan titles on the market Vega 64 was still a less horrific choice than RTX.

5700XT and 2070 Super are now finally the first “decent” options, but still not what a lot of people would consider a proper upgrade from 980Ti (still only 1080Ti performance, just at a lower price).

A $200 price drop on 2080Ti or significantly upgraded 2080 Super would have done a lot to restore faith in Nvidia, instead Nvidia is demonstrating perpetual obstinance and further fuelling my commitment to upgrade to Big Navi next year.
It’s going to end up being a five year wait for a lot of people.

If you are forced to buy a card now, as long as it is at lower level of what you usualy would buy, so often a 2060-2070 super as long as it is a cheap version, will probably not feel so bad later on. As i see it, it will probably not be until late 2020 before both Intel and Nvidia have introduced their cards, so the real competitive dance would continue through 2021 or at least first part with updated versions later in the year. So it is sorta endless.

Of cause the newer players need to get use to the depreciation :)

If I were forced to buy a card, I would'nt bother with anything released currently. Get this and wait for the next cycle.
