I don't understand your disbelief for single core turbo. How much power do you think even desktop CPU cores are consuming individually today? The power budget of a 3700X is less than 7 watts per core at stock.

So a 3700x on max boost all cores just requires 56W? (nevermind that we are talking of tdp and not electrical power consumption)

Don't think so but if any video will prove it....

A 3700x uses 90w and 111w with PBO.

We still have no clue of the power efficiency of Comet Lake on 14nm+++. A binned 9900k at 4900Mhz uses 118w w/ 1.125v

Which is just crazy to think about how far things have actually come in 15 years from single and dual cores using 95-125 watts and we have HUGE amounts more IPC than those in addition to hardly any power draw.

Exactly, this is always one core, Intel only states one core boost frequency these days anyway.

For those in doubt, they already make the Whiskey Lake based 14nm i7-8665U with a 15w standard TDP with a 4.8 Ghz max boost, so for Comet Lake we're talking about an extra 100 Mhz.

It's right here: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us...-4-80-ghz.html

Great preview for the new 10nm CPU, looks like only Nvidia gonna loose from that, OEM's will get rid of MX130~250 and offer slimmer and more power efficient designs W/O Nvidia discrete GPU's.

I was thinking about getting new laptop for my mom. Looks like this will be chipset to get. She's been using the last generation of the Sony Z Laptop for many years.
