Sometimes I wish I got as excited about displays as some of you folks do, but I'm mostly glad I don't because they can get expensive.

My dream monitor has color, some hertz, and it doesn't cost anything.

i just want to see 2560x1440 144Hz non-TN monitor prices to drop.

trolling an adult is very dangerous, don't try it at home nor at work. you don't want to play tag with a rabid man.

I love the specs, but the power consumption is unsustainable for larger panels sizes.
On 27” panels dual layer LCD is a good idea because getting thousands of zones will probably be difficult at normal monitor sizes, but every LCD panel from now on still needs to use FALD as a base technology.
Edge Lit needs to die, both to eliminate light bleed and just because the idea of running the whole display at maximum brightness just to get one shiny pixel is ridiculous.

I would rather have Mini LED with 10,000+ zones, but if the HDR display market doesn’t progress zone count fast enough then I wouldn’t be surprised of Dual LCD proliferates fairly quickly.

Yeah, it was expensive when it was new but I got it for $300 from Microcenter.

I'm easy to please when it comes to monitors, but that doesn't mean I'm cheap/broke.

That's not a bad price for it if you like it.

I believe the organic structure used in OLED simply has too low lifetime. They cannot change to a different material without adversely affecting other areas like color reproduction. All materials have tradeoffs and they simply havent found anything better than current OLEDs yet. This is where MicroLED fixes things as it is supposed to maintain color capability and drastically increase lifetime, the cost of material change though is response time and cost to create it.

I dont believe power consumption is a problem though? Maybe in a direct comparison to LCD but that doesnt mean very much. Power is still well within EU limitations for maximum per TV size.

It has already been done for a couple generations now. ZisWorks created a 1080p 240hz monitor back when things were barely 120hz. Then he created a 4k 120hz monitor back before any of the major companies were doing 120/144hz. His still has advantage over Asus and Acer in that his scanning backlight is leaps and bounds better motion quality than the competition. The only thing his monitor currently loses in is contrast ration because his doesnt have local dimming like Asus and Acer do. It was nice being on 4k 120hz a year and a half before anyone else, and for a cost 4x lower than the competition. I am sure next time he will create the first 8k 120hz monitor a couple years before the other major players come out with it.

Way better than the $700 or whatever they wanted for it new. I wouldn't pay $700 for any monitor, there just isn't enough they could do with it to make it worth that much money, at the end of the day it's still just a monitor. Even some crazy 240hz ultrawide oled would top out at maybe $500 or so for me.

I can understand these reference monitors (like the one listed in the op), anyone buying them is making money off of them, but they are stupidly overpriced considering that they won't make a movie any better (or worse).
