Nothing new. This has been done multiple times by all hardware vendors, especially when it comes to OEM.

Yeah, Oland (or "Orland" as the table in the article mistakenly calls it lol) is GCN 1.0, and along with other GCN 1.0 rebrands they've done over the years, it begs the question up until when will AMD provide driver support for GCN 1.0 based cards. Mostly for security patches (I can count two drivers on Nvidia's side this year that had them, not sure on AMD's side so far, but it's always a possibility in the future). And I also wonder if Nvidia is still providing support for desktop Kepler (mobile Kepler is no more) because they don't want to lose in the comparison. Then again, they are still selling the GT 710 (and 720 and 730), and now including some curious versions that have 2 GB of GDDR5, while keeping the same core clocks, essentially making them faster than the GT 720.

Nvidia was doing it in the same way. Low level cards get re-badged and are sold for office use for next half decade, until the stock is completely sold out.

Once new technology (such as GCN in its heyday, or NAVI now) hits this line of products, the same chip will be relevant for office use for 5-10 years.

fine, they rebranded the bottom tier for the nth time, but what about their middle tier GPUs?
500 series Polaris definitely needs a replacement, even a 7nm Polaris with GDDR6 would be better than nothing.

trolling an adult is very dangerous, don't try it at home nor at work. you don't want to play tag with a rabid man.

I'm waiting on that as well. Unfortunately there's is little reason for them to do so as the 570 and 580 still dominate the segment.

Word is that it's already done, but they deem it to soon to release it right now. The 5600XT is coming after Polaris stock dries up.

Is the 5600XT going to be 7nm Polaris, not a small Navi?!
