[Techspot]AMD has rebadged their budget GPUs again, now called 600-series

https://www.techspot.com/news/81495-...again-now.html

Quote:
This week, AMD silently began selling five "new" GPUs to OEMs under the Radeon 600 series. They’re just about the cheapest cards AMD sells, with a maximum core count of 640 for the top-end RX 640, trickling down to 320 for the 610, which, believe it or not, is based on the Graphics Core Next 1 architecture, released over five years ago.
Have to get on the ball here, WannabeOCer is slacking with the negative AMD news.

I rebadge my license plate sticker every year, i dont see an issue with this at all.

GPU i currently own: 390x/FuryX/Vega FE/RX Vega 64/RX 580 - CPUs: 5960x/R7 1700/X5650x2/E5 2863/e5 2670/R5 3600

They need a DP/HDMI output on machines with AMD CPUs that have no iGPU because it's a CPU not an APU like almost all Intel's offerings. Of course it's nice to have some creature comforts such as HW decoders for video and a bit of compute.

They look like they serve the place of igpus for low end Ryzen systems. As long as they aren't advertised as having awesome Radeon gaming graphics nobody is really being misled.

Any Ryzen with one of these will do much better than some Celeron or those old Jaguars at web browsing, fb, online shopping, playing video at 1080p, light office, or those phone type games and apps in the Windows store.
Basically what low end prebuilt buyers usually do with their Walmart bought pcs.

My GT730 is about on par with these and it does just fine for non gaming computer use. What I want to know is are they still making these, or did they find a crate in the back of some warehouse?

I checked Walmart. The gullible are being misled all over the place. These are still better than the GT 710s they are selling. This clip from the store page shows you can't judge quality by price:

We already have low-end Ryzen APUs though. A Ryzen 3400G with Vega 11 graphics would probably perform very close to most of these cards...

And if you want a workstation with 3950X you're gonna put what in it? Some low end pure budget GPU and that's what these cheapo GPUs are, so you can have a monitor output for workstation PCs as for server PCs you wouldn't even bother putting a GPU in.

Same as multi monitor cards and various solutions for monitor walls have their own use that isn't really meant for consumer gaming. They provide many outputs, not a lot of compute to play Crysis.

For a consumer low end yes AMD APUs are kind of OK but still dated, because AMD.

Has to be some sort of a record, as Oland was first released more than 6 years and 7 months ago

They should've called this the Rebrandeon 600 series to distinguish them from the real Radeons.

- 4930K @ 4.5 GHz | Asus X79-Deluxe
- MSi 980 Ti Gaming @ 1500/8000
- 4x4 GB Dominator Platinum 2400 MHz
- 2x 850 Pro 2TB
- Seasonic PRIME Titanium 850W
- Phanteks Enthoo Primo
- Custom watercooling (420+360+240)
- XB270HU 27" 1440p 144Hz IPS
