[WCCFTech] ASUS Crosshair VIII Impact & AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs Achieve Record Breaking 5856 MHz DDR4 Memory Overclock
I'm excited for the C8i to release and will be picking one up for myself!
ASUS Crosshair VIII Impact and AMD Ryzen 3000 CPUs Achieve Highest Frequency Record on X570 Platform – Massive 5.856 GHz DDR4 Overclock
The record-breaking overclock was achieved by Taiwanese overclocker “Bianbao” who used the unreleased ASUS ROG Crosshair VIII Impact motherboard, an AMD Ryzen 5 3600X processor that was underclocked to 2.2 GHz, and G.Skill’s Ripjaws V (DDR4-3200 MHz CL16) memory. Other specs of the benchmark rig included a GALAX GeForce GT 710 (Fish) and LN2 cooling which is required for overclocks this intense.
With this setup, Bianbao hit an impressive 5856 MHz effective (2928.4 MHz) overclocked frequency on the memory kit. The timings on the memory were configured to 30-27-27-58-127-1 (tCAS-tRC-tRP-tRAS-tCS-tCR). All of this testing ended up putting this record on the 3rd place in HWBOT’s hall of fame.
I thought higher than 3600 - 3800 MHz RAM did not play nice with Zen 2, since you lose the 1:1 parity. So all hype and no substance here again cheating the laymen.
This was done with LN2 overclocking for the memory, as the Crosshair VIII Impact is advertised as a LN2-friendly board. I made sure to include that in the quote so people wouldn't think it's easily achieved.
