Unlike the TV version of a courtroom, the law in reality has no relationship to commonsense and the "true facts of the matter" are often interesting but irrelevant in a real world court Decisions tend to be politically or ideologically based or just driven by money considerations.

Unless there are avenues to appeal, the decision simply is what it is, and no amount of internet lawyering will effect the decision made by the court on the day. It is not as if you can starta twitter petition to get the judges to reconsider .

You took a bit that explicitly said AMD believed the design to be an 8-core, highlighted one bit, and said "even AMD thinks it is a dual core".

Too bad it is, by design, an 8-core CPU and opinions don't matter. Sernox covered it fully enough. AMD paid out 12 mil so they can stop paying their lawyers.

There is also the joke notation provided by Intel:

AMD's Bulldozer is the first true dual-core aka monolithic dual-core. All other architectures were glued dual-cores aka non-monolithic dual-cores.

Why bother with glued dual-core on slow interconnects when you can use a monolithic dual-core.

I'd love a 4K 144hz monitor but I have a feeling the payouts aren't gonna cover that.

maybe Santa

They settled; they didn't lose.

Also it doesn't matter if reviews exist because AMD (allegedly) lied in their marketing material. Which is illegal.

It has eight physical cores. It's not like SMT or Hyperthreading where it's just making a second thread from nowhere, it's physically there. I mean... I don't understand why it's a problem. In the end, the FX 6300 performed on par with the Phenom II 1090T... and that was also a 6-core processor so... kinda confused here.

In the end, AMD agreed to pay out to each customer, of which $12.1M is pocket change for the company nowadays so... it's barely going to be noticed on a per-chip basis.
