[Multiple] Dual AMD Epyc 7742s crush Quad Intel Xeon 8180Ms

https://www.servethehome.com/geekben...-world-record/

https://www.tomshardware.com/news/du...80m,40288.html

"Patrick Kennedy, Editor-in-Chief at ServeTheHome, recently set a new world record on Geekbench 4 with pair of AMD EPYC 7742 processors. The publication also compared the pair of EPYC 7742 chips against four Intel Xeon Platinum 8180M processors, with the AMD system being the clear winner."

"The AMD system basically outperforms the Intel system by up to 3.74% in single-core workloads and 24.83% in multi-core workloads."

AMD investment payed off.
I would love to see a bigger suit of tests than just one benchmark though.

I personally love seeing the pressure being put on Intel because they dominate so much and it's bad for consumers when they have a monopoly on everything except home consumer CPUs.

More I see this I wanna believe I'll see Intel prices on cpus to hit value prices not like the i9 7980xe I bought that was a new car lol or a nice fat bike paid in full. Next system will be the next TR by then they should have memory and infinity fabric all. Sorts out and working great.

Me too. Competition is a must for intel to reduce prices to something a lot more sane. Just look at how they were forced to move to 8/16 on the mainstream and now pushing to 10/20 because of AMD.

Hopefully enterprise market forces intel to reduce prices and they start to move to AMD ones. But of course depends on what they are running. Just geekbench isn't going to make them move. If we get a full suit of tests showing AMD dominance, than intel will be backed into a corner. If outside of this one test intel stays dominant, than AMD will start to eat up some of the market, but not enough to force intel to reduce prices.

And many of Intel's gen 10 seem based on 14nm (If I recall the articles correctly)

It looks like AMD hit them out of nowhere. I'm waiting for gen 10 to build (Currently on 6600k) and I'm hoping to go AMD but I want to see gen 10 first or Ice Lake. I'm hoping the release will bring down AMD prices.

5x connectivity as in?

Also, price is probably 3x at least higher. And power consumption probably 2x higher.
