Eh, Intel's TDP is mostly fictional nowadays anyway, since the chips rarely run at the "base clock"

I think they're dumb but my boss makes me take them, got to get those kickbacks and free trips.

I was going to hop on and look at the slides for it but my business account expired, I guess if you use it once a year it does that since the last email I got from them was saying that. "Please log in within the next 20 days and continue to enjoy the benefits associated with the following program(s)." lol

I do disagree with not fully truthful marketing too but you have to remember that they will say things in ways to make stuff that is questionable true in some sense. "we are the market leader" when they segment only their products into the "market" for example.

Intel can say whatever it wants, whether it conforms to reality or not, but that doesn't excuse the tech reviewers at Tom's and TPU from critical thinking and not copy pasting whatever it is that is supposedly on those slides that you don't even have access to anymore. Facts are facts and those two sites are 100% wrong. If an i9 CPU, and not just any i9 (which is a first to begin with on the mainstream socket), it's an unlocked K part, in the same fashion as previous Extreme Edition models, and even more it's a special edition KS model - if this qualifies as one of "Intel's mainstream desktop processor", so do all of the 14 CPU's I linked to. Those two sites are wrong, period, stop making excuses for bad journalism and whatever is on those slides you don't even have access to anymore.

Bad journalism? There's been a dearth of good journalism for many years now, regardless of the subject, and tech definitely hasn't been immune. I wonder why... but I don't need to wonder too long.

Yep, simply locking a 9900K at 5 GHz x 8 cores, disabling c-states and running the high performance memory profile in Win10 and you're well over 127w, and that's barely what I would call overclocking.

CPU: intel Core i9 9900K - 5 GHz all core HT on - 1.26v - Air cooled
MOBO: Gigabyte Z390 Aorus Pro
GPU: MSI Duke OC RTX 2080 Ti - 380w PL BIOS
RAM: G.Skill 32GB DDR4 3200 CL14 @ 3600 CL15 (Samsung B-die)
SSD: Samsung 970 EVO 1TB M.2 NVMe
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G3
CASE: "Open bench" - Stripped down Tt Core X9
