The 9900k can only do 5ghz all core on a z series chipset board, those will be rare in like 4yrs time. If people who got say an 8400 and a good b360 board want an upgrade without changing their motherboard and windows install these will be the best they could get.

There is a reason 7700k's are still so expensive second hand.

My goodness, can't imagine the yields for that CPU

Only 30% of 9900k’s can hit 5ghz under 1.3 voltage so it is an issue for most.
The point of this is it’s a binned chip that you should be able to buy from multiple places compared to now where there’s less then a handful places that sell binned CPU’s.
That reason alone would be enough for me to buy one if I didn’t already have one.

With this being exactly the same CPU as the 9900k/9900kf do you consider will it drive price down on the used market or it will just increase the price if 9900KS is more expensive

I don't keep up with Intel these days, So i am wondering a few things here. 1.55v is safe for more than a suicide benchmark run? And stable exactly how? Custom watercooling required?

Funny how if you criticize intel releasing another variant of the exact same cpu model, your a amd fanboy. I can only imagine the blowback if AMD released Ryzen 3900xabc123 and it was like 100mhz or so faster clock speed.

This whole "absolute fastest" thing is not winning in the marketplace, when they competition is within say 10% performance. Price becomes more important then. People pushing for 5.2-5.4ghz clocks with custom watercooling are such a small minority of consumers. This is why AMD is gaining market share now in cpus. Intel is looking rather silly and desperate constantly re-releasing the same model cpu. Using "real world"(sysmark) benchmarks BEFORE security and firmware updates that slow performance down for security vulnerabilities on the latest products.

How many 9900k variants now exist?

i doubt it would change much, its much like GPU manufacturers factory-OCed cards, doesn't cause used cards to become any cheaper.

trolling an adult is very dangerous, don't try it at home nor at work. you don't want to play tag with a rabid man.

AMD already has a 3700x and 3800x which is pretty much the same thing with a different TDP. AMD fanboys are the ones comparing this chip to Vishera. The only similarly it has is TDP. Vishera was getting outperformed by Sandy Bridge in multiple benchmarks. While this is actually winning a few due to its clock speed.

They way i understood the "AMD FX" remarks were not AMD vs Intel but AMD vs AMD. AMD was doing what intel appears to be doing now. AMD got plenty of heat for that, also AMD was way behind in performance. Today Ryzen and INTEL lineup are very similar in performance. However you are looking at INTEL vs INTEL with the constant releasing of 9900k variants.

That is how i understood it.

(AMD FX - No matter the clock speed increases they gave it had almost no affect on performance, throw in the massive increase in TDP it was just not worth the effort. i.e. overclocking 8350 vs 9590)

GPU i currently own: 390x/FuryX/Vega FE/RX Vega 64/RX 580 - CPUs: 5960x/R7 1700/X5650x2/E5 2863/e5 2670/R5 3600
