[AnandTech] Intel to Launch Core i9-9900KS Next Month: 5 GHz on All Cores

Source: https://www.anandtech.com/show/14837...hes-next-month

Quote:
At its pre-IFA press event, Intel confirmed that its new enthusiast-class Core i9-9900KS processor will launch in October. The CPU will be very similar to the Core i9-9900K introduced last year, but will feature a higher all-core Turbo frequency when it has sufficient cooling.

The Intel Core i9-9900KS will feature eight cores with Hyper-Threading running at 4.0 GHz base frequency and boosting all the way to 5.0 GHz on all cores, up 300 MHz from 4.7 GHz in case of the Core i9-9900K. Essentially, the new CPU is just an eight-core Coffee Lake Refresh silicon binned to hit higher clocks when cooling is good enough.

reminds me of Piledriver 9000 series.

More like 4 GHz pre-nerf performance due to security holes.

So if these are binned a bit better than the standard 9900K are we going to be seeing more 5.3 & 5.4 GHz monsters?

It's nice to see Intel desperate for a change.

Maybe on LN2 because this KFC chip is going to live up to its name, if it can maintain 5GHz at all times. I highly doubt it unless some serious cooling is used.

My 9900k already hits 5.4Ghz on water stable with 1.55v though. I'm sure we'll see many of these hit 5.2Ghz+

Neat. And yeah they put out a lot of heat but this is overclock.net and we love pushing things to their full potential regardless.

My new 4c/8t 4.0ghz Coffee Lake laptop gets so hot the plastic housing is beginning to warp. But so what, if it dies from heat I'll buy another one. The performance is just superb for what it is.

I am not sure if you are being humorous or serious. That said did you really just use an marketing slide as some sort of proof? Heh.
