in what? NV line has been quite capable of 4K60 for a few generations? I'm hoping the next jump gives us something like 4K90-120 ~medium settings.

Games on ultra will always make you wanna buy the next card.

My 2080Ti @ 2160/8200 cranks out 4K/60 Ultra (no AA) in seemingly 90-95% of the games I throw at it, not counting RTX of course (was never even a consideration for me this generation tbh). I would certainly hope Ampere can give us more than 4K/60! I'm still happy to go without Ray Tracing, I just want the speed!

right? RDR2 was the first title in quite some time to put my 2080ti thru its paces. So much so I decided to step down to 3440x1440p w. VRR instead of 4K60 no vrr. Either way though, you could still easily tune RDR2 to low enough settings to get ~80-90fps average. The game on 4Kultra w. 2x2080ti runs ~90-100.

Hi,
Yeah I'd rather dump something at the retailers door step than shipping it to lg/... in bfi costing quite a lot compared to the in store warranty costs.

But these tv's are insanely priced and still with burn in = no thanks.

depends on the title, and the same thing will be said about 3080ti in brand new games as well.

kinda just how it works. The "ultra" setting should be called "convince end user to buy new stuff" setting. many times, even years later, those settings don't become playable.

as a few 4K users have already informed you. The sharpness gain of 4K doesn't go away even when you turn the textures down a bit. Either way, at this point, achieving 4K60 is rather easy. RDR2 for example "HARDEST THING TO RUN EVER, POORLY OPTIMIZED!" go play it again a couple months later. 4K60 all day on mostly high settings.

so really, your statement while true in some examples, gives a false impression of what's really going on.

This has been true since the history of highest settings and the highest end gpu on the market.

Often the "ultra" setting provide virtually no visual difference from the high settings in a title and add nothing outside of higher rendering stress.

thanks for clarifying.

the marketing jargon sent to news agencies has been calling it 8k. that's not even 4K!
