Uhh, wut?

Windows runs on anything these days. X86 or ARM. It's always been their plan to have a unified OS that can run on whatever hardware is out there and they're basically at that point now.

But aside from that, Microsoft just released a bunch of devices that are doing new things and what has Apple done? More camera lenses and a touch bar is all that comes to mind, oh and who can forget the $1000 TV stand.

The list of innovations Microsoft has made recently is much, much longer than the list of just things apple has done lately, at all. I believe Microsoft's Surface line alone is selling more than Apple computers at this point.

I gotta give you credit on how clear you make your Biases. From the OP of this thread to just about every comment you ever make, you always make it clear that you pick sides based on your own preferences and little else and I can appreciate that kind of simplicity. Not everyone can be so consistent.

Based off my own preferences? No, it's based off of innovations from companies that people on here are blinded by due to price tags or brand loyalty. There is no reason to ship a x86 operating system in 2019. AMD x86_64 was the resolution to fix this and that was released in 2003. Now developers still have to deal with supporting a 32 bit app because Microsoft still ships a x86 OS and users accidentally click x86 during their install. Instead of dropping 32 bit apps like their competitors they will be releasing yet another operating system that can emulate 32 bit apps even though those developers are trying to drop them.

Hololens is awesome, WSL is awesome, their earbuds are awesome and the recent MS Office changes are sweet. This entire lineup is just them playing catchup with the rest of the laptop manufacturers.

That $1000 stand is actually remarkable but yet you are blinded by the $1000 price tag. It enables users to adjust the height and tilt it effortlessly, and it leaves the screen absolutely stable once it's in place. The only people who are complaining about its price aren't the people who are going to be buying it in the first place. The XDR display undercuts all of it's competitors and provides a better display. If Apple replaces macOS with iOS than we'll actually see a unified OS.

Nobody accidentally installs 32-bit because users never clean install their computers. 32-bit exists because it is required, if MS did not release Windows 10 for 32-bit companies would be using Windows 7 still.

A lot of non-technical users accidentally install 32 bit Windows. Not sure which handleful of companies are still using non 64 bit processors but that's fine they can run Windows 10 x86 until support ends and at that time they'll have to upgrade to a device that supports x64. Their 32 bit apps will run thanks to AMD x86_64 and developers wouldn't have to manage a separate 32 bit app anymore. The entire point of AMD x86_64 was to transition from 32 bit to 64 bit.

32 bit isn't required which is why many developers dropped it. Luckily for Apple their user base aren't gamers or else they'd also have an uproar just like canonical.

Plus x86 is less secure and some of the Spectre/meltdown patches aren't available for x86.

Edit: I'm aware of old mission critical software that won't run on x64 windows. Definitely the military who are still paying for XP support. They can pay for Windows 7 support as well.

In all reality, non technical users aren't installing any OS in the first place, they buy OEM.

and their recovery partition doesn't give a choice, it likely makes use of refresh or reset, or whatever its called now. this was maybe an issue back in the recovery DISK days, grampy and his floppy disk? idk...

Just want to clarify something since the OP would rather bash Microsoft than have accurate info, the prototype is running the 855. Microsoft has been open about the fact that this is currently a prototype, and when it releases it will have an updated CPU.

Doesn't matter what they release, Andy Rubin's Essential PH-2 is going to revolutionize smart phones.

You can pretty much convert any Android phone into what ever Microsoft Android abomination will be just by downloading their apps from the play store.
