Source: https://www.tomshardware.com/news/am...004,40549.html

Quote:
German publication Planet 3DNow! caught an interesting bit of information during a transmission of the "MSI Insider Show" on YouTube. Eric van Beurden, one of the show's moderators and Marketing Director at MSI, revealed that a new AMD microcode should arrive next month. It will reportedly bring over 100 different improvements for owners of AMD Ryzen CPUs, the site reported today.

The performance has already increased twice already very incrementally (for gaming) since launch so it's great they keep rolling out these updates. Free performance for all.

It's still so bizarre to me that CPU firmware/microcode is now something that's so public and frequently discussed. We now live in a world where even our CPU's get patches and updates. When I first got my start in PCs (2004), no one cared at all about what AGESA or Microcode or Firmware version their Athlon 64 or Pentium 4 was running. It wasn't even a thing that'd be considered.

Like never before, when it comes to PC gaming, we've come to expect that we're buying essentially broken hardware and software, which will be patched (or not) down the road.

Free Performance (TM) is not a thing. It just means that your product is broken.

how jaded of you! LOL!

this is why you gotta be an educated and unimpulsive buyer.

i always found it strange that amd pushed updates for their CPUs, it helped perpetuate the "buggy" mindset for me.
