[Igors Lab] 5500 XT, 1660 Super, 5600 XT

Original Title: Nvidia counters the RX 5500 XT with a GTX 1660 Super, almost cannibalizes its own Ti with it and waits relaxed with the old 2060 for a RX 5600 (XT)

"Together with what has already been leaked, the existing benchmarks and a simple calculator, the upcoming situation can be calculated quite easily."

Why should I buy this if it's "crazy" to buy a card without RTX in 2019?

Because RTX (Ray Tracing) is pointless right now and can't provide the performance that is claimed.

Of course Nvidia couldn't just lower the price of the GTX 1660 and 1660 Ti and of the rest of the lineup above, of course, they have the mindshare and want to keep the profits, so they prefer to cannibalize the 1660 Ti by releasing the 1660 Super. That is how comfortable they still feel on the market.

More info on this came up after. The RX 5500 is set to compete against the 1650 and claimed to have about 12% performance over the RX 480 while drawing 30% less power. I'll find the link I read that from...

EDIT: Found it!

RX 5500 exists only because RX 570 / RX 580 will be EOL. You're going to get the Navi improvements , but due to lower shader count the performance will likely be similar and despite the 7nm the power improvements are far smaller. The memory bandwidth is roughly equal despite half the bus width due to use of GDDR6.

It will be interesting to see if the rumored RX 5600 series ever comes around (a card roughly 2048 shaders? to split the difference between RX 5700 and RX 5500). RX 5500 ~ 5 TFLOPs, RX 5700 ~ 8 TFLOPS.

On the Nvidia side , it's just them being nuts with segmenting down every $30 increment. GTX 1660 Ti and GTX 1660 could have been price cut.

the RX 5600XT looks interesting.. does it have a estimated price? because it should be sub 200usd based on 560 series, if it is above 200usd it doesnt looks that good

Well, it looks like AMD is capable of making low and mid-range cards ... right in their historical strike zone. Where is the BIG NAVI we're all waiting on? Are they afraid it's going to disappoint?
