Ignore the annoying AMD cheerleaders. Many potential TR buyers are turning 180 after the price announcement. Yikes! I was expecting them to at least price match last year's price points. The new TRs are practically targeting Intel HEDT customers and not previous TR users.

what? if you are making money from this workstation PC then 3970X is very cheap for the performance and time savings.

Hahaha.

Let me see.

Offers a lot more than the 10980XE, for double the price.

BUT.... The 10980XE is literally the same CPU as 7980XE/9980XE.

Aside from a price cut, it has nothing new.
You are now having a lower performing product (Intel 10980XE) at lower price point, to a vastly better performing product (3960X/3970X), at a about the same price as its predecessor. It literally has 25% higher base clocks and 4x the L3 cache for just 7.5% higher price.

Its still no brainer to buy Intel HEDT, regardless of the 7.5% price increase of the AMD CPUs.

So 2990WX was 3.2Ghz all core boost, now the 3970X could hit ~4Ghz all core imo, considering the IPC uplift- it's looks like that the new 3970X could offer upto 40% better all core boost performance!

You just fit that description. Only cheering and not buying. Notice how the price hike only affects the actual potential buyers and not the cheerleaders.

Well, sike matey, you think a normal person can drop 2000$ on a CPU?

I got myself an R7 1700 for my VMs and compilation needs.

Its a HEDT chip, not an enthusiast one. Its targeted for content creation, going to end into work stations, in which the CPU is going to be only a 25% of the total price probably.

But hey, easier to tell how everybody is a AMD fanboy.

As i said, right now, if you are enthusiast who wants to game (aka, an idiot) on a HEDT CPU, the Intel is a better choice, because its cheaper.

I was expecting $1250. But I probably won't be getting one. Unless someone makes an mATX.
