At the moment I'm rendering out a Premiere clip, compiling a Unity/Oculus VR app and doing a Blender run while playing WoW Classic - in game it's like the system is doing nothing else - and I can alt tab out, open a Photoshop or browser window with zero delay - it's astonishing.
but not any benchmarks..

TIA

Motherboards are hard enough to come by, the 3960X and 3970X is almost a unicorn right now.

I just managed to snag a Zenith II Extreme off newegg yesterday. Still checking multiple times a day for the 3960X.

Threadrippers rare but are out there

I picked up a 3960 on Black Friday at the local microcenter. I checked online Thanksgiving and saw 2 in stock at list price--. Showed up before opening the next day. They didn't last(I got one). Oddly, they did not carry any motherboards-but those are more plentiful elsewhere. Since then I received an email alert twice from another vendor that they were in stock, but they disappear quickly and are often marked up in price. It is an amazingly large and heavy chip but with thhe profit margin, I would expect that AMD will try to deliver as many as possible. The large chip surface area relative to the number of cores gives a nice base clock and good overclock potential--with expensive support from a 1200W power supply, a proper(not adapter based 360mm radiator) water cooler and a motherboard that can deliver the heavy amperage needed.
