[PCGamesN] AMD loses 5% of GPU market to Nvidia in Q3 despite the RX 5700-series launch

Source: https://www.pcgamesn.com/amd/nvidia-...report-q3-2019

Quote:
Nvidia gained significantly over the past quarter, managing to increase its 67.92% market share in Q2 to 72.92% in Q3 – entirely at AMD’s expense. Nvidia expanded its GPU lineup in 2019 with the Super variants, for both RTX 20-series and 16-series GPUs, and the first batches of these cards would be factored into its Q3 sales.

It’s not all bad news for AMD’s Radeon graphics division, however. The company managed to increase its market share somewhat since this time last year. It now makes up 27.08% of the market, up from its Q3, 2018 total of 25.72%.

It's Christmas season and kids are going to ask for the best or at least what the parents will agree to and it's hard to say no at this time of year. I'm glad Nvidia clawed back some shares since AMD went back into hibernation after releasing their low-mid tear Navi cards at prices too close for comfort especially when it came to a good AIB card. If only for gaming that thing is so hard to sell at this point with RTX 2080 Super can be had for the same price.

AMD has 5700 XT / 5700. Nvidia has GTX1650/1660/1660 Ti/2060/2060S/2070S/2080/2080S/2080Ti.

Not hard to believe. Even if AMD has 50% market share right now it will not mean much. You need a high market share with high margins.

Ah yes it’s so nice to see plucky underdog Nvidia clawing back some market share. When was the last time our boys in green had a win, they really needed this!

Also in that lineup the Titan RTX. Additionally, Nvidia is bringing back the 2700 and now there is talk of a 2080 Ti Super as well. Also anyone for value will keep their 1080Ti or buy one. I'm glad AMD is doing well on CPUs or it would have been a disaster.

We all know that Nvidia is back to 95% shares so why so mean, jellybean?

And no one was surprised. Too few options, nothing for enthusiasts except the already discontinued Radeon VII. Nothing wrong with the 3-4 GPUs they are actually currently supporting other than that by the time they came out, anyone looking for that level of performance probably already had it.

It's not discontinued, until the Instinct Mi50 is discontinued they'll keep selling it.
