The Steam controller just never made visual sense to me. I couldn't conceptualize it in action versus an Xbox or PS4 controller. I get they had to be different and cater to a wider variety of things, but at least make it look like something we'll understand.

if you like customization tinkering, then yes. I'm guessing getting used to the thumb pads is gonna be weird. Also, I'm cheap and can't stand the idea of buying YET ANOTHER XB1 controller. So, until ShartBox:Scurvy releases, this'll be my go to fir wireless. Since DS4>>windows wireless is still quite hit or miss.

if only Shield controller would work on windows... STILL WAITING!!!

Skipping it myself as the shipping is high and that's an estimate, from user reports it's even another 10 higher so while the controller may now be affordable the shipping is very high in the end. For something that I would barely use, is not well supported because on PC everyone does Xbox controller in games and plugins for apps. I'm too used to being able to use 8/10 fingers at any time compared to a gamepad where you're stuck with 6 and lower accuracy and reaction times. Keys and mouse is simply keys and mouse and I don't need to hold and carry either of them unlike a gamepad.

I'm sure the trackpads are just getting used to compared to sticks, offer more configuration/change but hardware sticks/buttons are better when one needs those.

Doesn't seem worth to me 25 EUR or so that it costs shipped.

Plus the endless reports of it doesn't work well in this and that, it's more of a mouse/trackpad replacement for couch gaming on a TV, etc.

I'm just gonna stick to keyboard and mouse even for leisure games that may sometimes be overly designed controls wise for gamepads.

steam makes a controller?

Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.
Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

ended up costing $7.99 to ship to Florida.

no, they made a controller and are tired of the warehouse bill.

I like the Steam controller quite a bit. It's not perfect though. the shoulders, in particular, are oddly placed and overall it just needs a bit of an ergonomics pass. A V2 could easily be my favorite controller of all time, but as it stands, it's just another controller I want to love but instead only like.

Between that, and the bizarre social backlash it received for daring to be different (and frankly, superior) with its use of clicky pads instead of buttons, I can see why Steam is rather unfortunately willing to give up on this project rather than perfect it.

At any rate, for 5 bucks plus some odd shipping, I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone who may be interested, flaws and all.
