I picked up another one. I really do like it, but ultimately I think the Dualshock 4 is the superior controller.

Between that, and the bizarre social backlash it received for daring to be different (and frankly, superior) with its use of clicky pads instead of buttons, I can see why Steam is rather unfortunately willing to give up on this project rather than perfect it.

At any rate, for 5 bucks plus some odd shipping, I'd absolutely recommend it to anyone who may be interested, flaws and all.
The pads can click like a regular tactile button or are they fixed like laptop trackpad?

I think they are ditching the product entirely and this is a sell out to clear out the warehouse. At least that's what I expect and read when digging around. Valve loves to do this to many of their projects, the same may happen to their VR later. Make something then abandon it either mid development or after launch.

no, they made a controller and are tired of the warehouse bill.
won't they still get billed for steam machines?

sounds like they need high density modular storage. i could sell them a butt load.

Remember the golden rule of statistics: A personal sample size of one is a sufficient basis upon which to draw universal conclusions.
Upload the computer to Dropbox and provide a link to it so others may download it to examine and give advice for repairs.

The pads are clicky. Similar to a Vive controller.

Yeah those bumpers are really fragile. Fortunately, some guy developed a more rigid 3d printed model that can be used to replace them.

what do you use to get proper wifi functionality in everything you play?(irS4)

Bought a couple of hundred dollars worth of games during the current sale and added in a controller for s&gs. Figured why not.

For RTS/RTT/4X/CRPG style games the steam controller is amazing. Its a great alternative to vertical mice. Plus its less strain on your wrist, since its not twisted.

i use a vertical mouse at work, been thinking about getting one for home as well. Off the cusp, I seem to be more accurate with it on web trainers.

Always said I'll pick up a steam controller when I see one in the barging bin. Guess now is the time.
