Gonna go ahead and disagree with you there. Glass and smooth plastic are by far and away the best type of material for a touchpad experience such as the Steam Controller.

I most certainly have no problem with either my phone or laptop touchpads, 2 of which use glass, one of which uses a smooth plastic. The hard plastic on the Steam Controller is definitely jarring and uncomfortable as something i have to swipe across for hours on end.

I'm glad I didn't buy this controller for 60$, I would not be happy. Though, I can see what could have possible with a few tweaks.

I got two off to the same address, and one to work. However, I waited until today to order an Index, and thus lost out

valve has completely emptied their warehouse of all hardware that isn't a steam box. I for one aplaud the Gaben flex. Now they just need to get busy & deliver on the VR gaming Renaissance.

That's really where PC & console will separate over the next cycle.

me want more SLIVR. I'd go far enough to say Alyx will make use of VR mGPU.

I think that's the grease on your hands acting like a lubricant. I clean my hands/devices often and glass/smooth plastic can give me hell. Haven't tried the controller yet though I'm curious to see how my dry hands fair.

That's why smooth plastic and glass are not good for touchpads - dry hands. It's especially bad if the full digit is touching.

All four of mine shipped today.

I'm in the clear from the refund apocalypse.
