[TechPowerUp] 2080 TI Modded to 16gbps Memory Chips for 17,200MHz

Source: https://www.techpowerup.com/261565/m...an-rtx-2080-ti

Article contains pictures and a video detailing TechLab's process of swapping in 11 memory modules from 2x 2080 Super's to replace the modules on a Galaxy HOF 2080 Ti. This is truly enthusiast-level stuff. Ambient gains from memory swap are about 10%. For perspective, a top prev-gen 1080 Ti hits around 12,800MHz.

Overclocked Unigine Superposition benchmark @ 1080p = 11,460:

all of a sudden 2080ti super doesn't seem all that strange?

1 more core cluster + 10% bump from memory gains = yet another sku!

only watched a minute and the CC translation to english seems to work well . .

so 1 more SMC and the newer faster sammy memory?

how many years until we see amd, intel, & NV all drop a killer during the holidays? 2021. 2022?

no 3080ti till this time next year. it'll release ~ same time as consoles.

that's my bet for now. June will be small chip stuff.

Most of the HOF cards are either Micron or Hynix last I've heard.

Getting Samsung memory will bump overclocking potential MASSIVELY, so there's not really any surprise here.

Micron and Hynix should just stop selling their garbage altogether tbh. They take the fun out of overclocking, aside from really niche scenarios where it won't matter for virtually all users.

I'm tired too of Nvidia prices. I might just wait for next AMD card that can push 144 fps in 1440p then upgrade. My 1080ti is going to have to hold me over until then. Just like I switched from Intel I think I'm going to give AMD a shot. Enough of these BS prices. Probably have to get rid of my gsync monitor too and go freesync exclusively.
