why lower max boost frequency for some cores (4,4/4,5/4,6) to get a lower all cores speed (4,1)?

I think it's common knowledge at this point that the AMD products are generally shipping with one chiplet that will boost better than the other at least where the 3900x is concerned. So attempting to reach an all-core overclock across both chiplets would only get you the best performance that the worst cores can achieve.

amd chiplets design allow them to bin every core and choose th ebetter ones, then give this map to the boost algorithm and boom you have the best performance that silicon can give you (anandtech had a great article days ago explaining the differences between best cores seen by ryzen master and windows scheduler)

you want moar performance on ryzen? give that **** a ton of cooling, pump up the pl and enjoy the show. old all cores oc will gimp it, until you got a golden chip(s) and you want the bigger e-peen on cinebench

The 3950x is a consumer priced workstation CPU, any usage that doesn't take advantage of that is pointless.

What I found weird was the comparison to the 2200G which uses "Zen" architecture, not even second-gen Zen+ architecture. It's launch first-gen architecture in a thread about third-gen Zen2 architecture in regard to the 3950X.

This makes sense, but i feel like i have not seen any articles on people cherry picking the best cores and disabling the rest to get all core clocks equal to the turbo 4.7. I think it would be interesting if you could pick the best 4 and disable the rest for when you want to game or do single threaded tasks,

we already know the IPC is way ahead of intel so if you can get the clocks to get close wouldnt that be interesting. I know this is a workstation chip but it would be nice to have the best of both worlds.

boost algorythm is already acting in the best way to squeeze out performance, even for a single thread scenario which is an insult for this kind of platforms but I get what you are saying

Pump up the ram speed as much as you can while keeping a decent CL and a 1:1 ratio, freeze that chip with ton of cooling and enjoy it
