any reviews with MPT ocing at 2100+?
Also intrested to see undervolt resaults with lower clocks, looks like 5500XT is running in not optimal frequencies over 1850Mhz unlike 5700 clocks.
lets say- how well this card could run w/o PCIe power.

5600's the real replacement for 570/580.Remeber the 580 was about usd 280 to 300 when released.
5500's replacement for 550/560.

if you look at it that way which i'm sure AMD is looking at it,then it's accually a good upgrade of previous gen.
if anything these arent equivalent to those, these are barely midrange gpus with increased price

550->5500
560->5600
5700->580/570

550 - 5500
560 - 5500 xt
570 - 5600
580/590 - 5600 xt
Vega 56 - 5700
Vega 64 - 5700 xt

5500/xt - new intro level(Don't think we'll see a 5400 or 5300.
5600/xt - new mid range which will be going the way of 1440p eventually.
5700/xt - new mid/higher range 1440p and beyond

5800/6800 xt? in coming toprange..4k

No. simply AMD released the 480 as they released the 5700 series to compete against the midrange, hello midrange does not cost 200usd anymore it is 300-400usd, Vega was a high end part for 550 which is now around 600-700 thanks to the new node and memory

I refuse to accept the "new mid-range". Next thing we'll be accepting the "new 500-700 mid-range". I'll simply either buy used or not buy at all until the low end meets the "old mid-range" expectations.

5500 and 5700 make sense in terms of where Nvidia also lands with 1650 and 2070. RX460 and RX480 made no sense in terms of Nvidia GPU. RX480 should have been called RX 460 XT and RX460 should have RX450. Vega would have been RX 480 of that generation.

Well this time is acceptable I guess? look we have 7nm and GDDR6 it is the first time in production (well not for 7nm) but it was a low volume production on Radeon VII, so prices are reasonable, also think about it, the midrange was 350 in 2012 using GDDR5 and 28nm, it was more or less equivalent to buying a RX 5700 at the moment for 300-350, for 400 you could get a HD 7950 which thought to be high end at the moment and right now you get the full die of the mid range chip. also prices have increased due to the public perception. RTX 2060 Super is 400 so midrange with RTX is acceptable so will be something which has a slighly faster even if it does not have Raytracing, but well old mid range prices were results of probably higher yields on 14nm, using old memory system (GDDR5) and not a very different architecture which was released around 4years before these new cards in 2016.

The only way price might drop compared toprice/performance is that the high end chips get released, AMD either has to drop price or re-release the same chip with higher clock, like they did with the 590/580 for the same price,

Now that AMD has launched these cards I need to make a suggestion to a co-worker on what card he should buy to match up with his 1080p 144hz freesync monitor. The 590 was leading the pack because of his $250 budget limitation but it looks like he may as well get one of these since they are about the same price.

Is there any reason he should consider a 1660? I haven't had very good results using freesync with my 2080ti.

Stretch to get a 5700 on sale.
